I was looking at something yesterday somewhere that was calling for a sort of Left version of Joe Rogan's podcast. While I don't see this development as filling that role, I do think there's room in the media space in a lot of places for a sort of loud, opinionated and witty Left leaning commentary / broadcast. Talk back radio for hippies, if you like... a rallying point. A beacon, a flame for the moths.Uncle fester wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2024 4:40 pmIt's real.Biffer wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2024 3:23 pmThat even sounds like an Onion article.laurent wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2024 3:09 pm The Onion bought Infowars , looks like things are getting interesting in the US...![]()
They're planning to relaunch as a parody site taking the shit out of people like Jones. A few more years and I'll have trouble following what's real anymore.
The Onion buys rightwing conspiracy theory site Infowars with plans to make it ‘very funny, very stupid’ https://www.theguardian.com/media/2024/ ... re_btn_url
Maybe I'm not understanding what Infowars is but have they just paid money for a YouTube channel that has the name Infowars?
How does this help? Jones will just start up a different channel and his fan base will move over there.
Tragedy
Ah well; maybe a few hundred thousand children dying unnecessarily will be enough to move the dial ..... but then again

Elon just posted this list of government waste and all I can think of is that episode of Seinfeld in which Kramer gets fired from a job he doesn't actually have by a man who points out to him that he exhibits no sign of understanding the industry he's in
I have no idea what I'm even looking at here

Democratic Senators Jack Reed & Jeanne Shaheen are urging a probe into Elon Musk's alleged contacts with Russian officials, including Putin, over national security concerns. With Musk's SpaceX holding major Pentagon contracts, they demand the DOJ & Pentagon investigate if these ties warrant exclusion from future government projects. Musk denies recent talks with Putin, claiming his security clearance remains intact.
I know he's open about the fact of using, but I'm not aware of him having been particularly open about the sheer amount of it he supposedly gets through.fishfoodie wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 8:18 pmBy reports, you mean the words from his own mouth ?sockwithaticket wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 6:57 pmHe ingests champion quantities of ketamine if reports are to be believed.Sandstorm wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 12:04 pm

He, I believe the term is; "Self-Medicates"
It's too much to hope he'll drown in a hot tub like whats-his-name from Friends.
It should be irrelevant, because he's abusing a prescription drug, & that alone should prohibit him holding any position in Government, same as any other Joe who got caught with a random drug test.sockwithaticket wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:52 pmI know he's open about the fact of using, but I'm not aware of him having been particularly open about the sheer amount of it he supposedly gets through.fishfoodie wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 8:18 pmBy reports, you mean the words from his own mouth ?sockwithaticket wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 6:57 pm

I'm almost sure she can count to 11 without taking off her shoes & socks, & I'm not aware of her every being accused of raping anyone.
Maybe I should have used appointing Dr. Oz to be in charge of Medicaid and Medicare as my example of bottom-fishing.Kiwias wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:45 pmI don’t know that I would go as far as saying she is a fuckload better but your point is taken.fishfoodie wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:26 pmShe's a fuckload better candidate that most of the ones he's already named.Kiwias wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:21 pm Trump still trying to find the lowest possible candidate for a cabinet position.

Basically, he will nominate a whole bunch of totally fucked-up candidates on the assumption that the Senate can't refuse all of them, and in reality can only refuse a handful, so that there will be some really shitty cabinet secretaries in place who will do serious damage.fishfoodie wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 1:08 am Let's not pretend that these nominations are serious; they're mostly about finding where the buckle point is for the GOP.
A promise from the the Traitor is worth the square root of fuck all; but it's a useful exercise for him to find out where the line is for what the GOP will sign off on, & where they'll balk.
If they sign off on them all; then he can run for a 3rd, a 4th term & they'll do nothing, & say nothing.
If the GOP says Gaetz is unacceptable, but RFK Jr somehow is, or they negotiate between them; then he knows; or rather the scum working thru him know, where the lines are, & who in the GOP are the people they need to get onside on appointments etc.
This is still going to be a fucking awful 4 years for the US, & the rest of us.
Isn't this the US's first Muslim cabinet appointment?
