I love the way you think all women have the same opinion
The point is that all women have a right to their opinion, and to their own bodies.
This Tory MP is discrediting that, and should be called out for it.

Most people in the UK disagree with that but it's not a totally off the wall position to take. Anyway as noted Tory detractors don't need to tag on this shite to make a point. As an aside as abortion now becomes a worldwide battle ground the numbers will shift. Oul wans who thought they didn't care will suddenly think 'hold on I don't like immigration AND abortions'. Its inevitable
The problem for the tories is they're losing female voters at a clip. Right wing parties going very pro abortion will only end badly. It's not a vote winner

Sure in the states they advertise it: its a problem for minorities so it won't even impact on your squeaky clean grandkids
In the long term the xenophobic, Brexit-voting, 'Britannia rules the waves' pensioners will be too senile or dead to vote.

Support for abortions is higher in the 65 + female bracket than women of child bearing age.

Older women can remember the consequences of a ban

Raab winking at Rayner during PMQ's while berating her for being photographed at Glyndebourne drinking champagne

Pity she didn't have this comeback at the time
My advice to the deputy prime minister is to cut out the snobbery and brush up on his opera. The Marriage of Figaro is the story of a working-class woman who gets the better of a privileged but dim-witted villain. Judging by his own performance today, Dominic Raab could learn a lesson about opening up the arts to everyone, whatever their background.

Nicley rubber stamped and no possible conflict here. It's as if they've forgotten Owen Patterson!!!
Gavin Williamson has taken a £50,000-a-year second job as an adviser to a firm that runs private schools, university courses and education investments – less than a year after leaving the role of education secretary.

The former chief whip has taken a job as chair of the advisory board of RTC Education Ltd, which has given more than £165,000 to the Conservatives.

According to Companies House, RTC’s chairman is Maurizio Bragagni, a major Tory donor in his own right, who has hit the headlines in recent weeks over comments about sharia law that the party distanced itself from.

This long article on the Olympic legacy project is good:
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/202 ... s-sold-out

It's like a microcosm of how the Tories are governing. The profits from public goods privatised for the benefit of corporates (probably Tory donors) and foreign multi nationals and/or foreign sovereign wealth funds (probably Tory donors). Democracy not just eroded but ended if possible. Local residents/citizens excluded completely, anything from previous Labour plans designed to help them is removed. Truck loads of money thrown at architects and planners, and the result still being a mess. Boris Johnson in the middle of it all ignoring details, demanding (and getting) dictator-esque vanity projects. Some strange attempt at reliving the Thatcher era without understanding the context/ideas/failings/limitations of that time, like one of those never ending bad remakes of 1980s films, Predator 6, Ghost Busters 5, Star Wars 11. Then all the costs of this mess are heaped onto the already fucked residents/citizens, who got nothing from it.

Anyone read the latest Private Eye? If so, what's this all about?
From this morning's Politico London Playbook
Johnson also returns to Westminster-wide gossip about *that* Private Eye story containing lurid allegations (denied by his allies) that Playbook won’t get into while numerous readers are having their breakfasts. Finish your porridge before you run out and get a copy.

The reason that Nut Nut didn't get the job at the FCO was because an MP walked in on her giving Johnson head in his office when he was Foreign Secretary. I'm not a fan of his, but it's brave man that would let his john thomas anywhere near those gnashers, she looks like Mr Ed.

MPs don't have a contract of employment which states that though. And ministers are governed by the ministerial code, and there's only one person who can authorise an investigation under the ministerial code, escapes my mind who it is for the time being....

I saw this exchange from the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee on Tuesday. The Committee was questioning head of the civil service and Cabinet Secretary Simon Case.

John McDonnell asked Simon Case why he hadn’t initiated a probe into the claims Boris had tried to appoint Carrie to a Foreign Office job

Case replied that “Any investigation under the ministerial code can only be authorised by the PM”.

The Committee Chair, William Wragg, responded: “Is he not keen?”

I often feel that the era when Thatcher and the like took over that there was things you could cut and private business were genuinely likely to be more efficient and cost effective. 40 years later I don't think that holds true at all and after all the efficiency cuts instead of being near the beginning of a game of Jenga or kerplunk you're at the point that the next removal means something falls over.

Very true.

There's a similar situation in Unionisation; where the destruction of the British motoring Industry could in part be laid at the door of the Unions; & there was definitely a need for re-balancing of power; but now that power balance will again need to be addressed, in the ago of zero-hour contracts, & large swaths of the workforce still needing to use food banks.

She stated: “Like Jason Robinson I may have switched codes in my speech … Both league & union have a rich heritage in the UK. Obviously I’ve followed rugby league much less in my lifetime, but I’m looking forward to watching England (& all the home nations) in the RL World Cup this autumn.”

Dorries had added in her speech: “I have heard and I know from my limited watching that it’s an incredibly physical and sometimes brutal sport and it often ends up in a scrum, which actually reminds me very much of politics. I think we have a lot in common and given a lot of the media like to call me the prime minister’s attack dog, I wonder sometimes if I should give rugby a go.
