And he's right, everyone resigning a post now will still be an MP and they are the cunts who've kept quiet until now about all sorts of scandalous behaviour centred around number 10, calmly accepted the corruption around PPE contracts and happily voted for the curtailment of protest rights etc. etc.

The Tories are rotten to the core and I worry at what might get done legislatively with a leader and cabinet not constantly putting out fires around personal conduct. They may play just nice enough to come through another election and then set to continuing to sell off public assets, personal rights and whatever else can be sacrificed on the twin altars of the market and personal gain.

One former minister who has stayed loyal to Johnson told their whip that there were absolutely no terms they were prepared to accept and said the whip had agreed with them.
Another MP said they believed that message had been conveyed in “brusque tones” to Downing Street.

if the Sovereign could "rely on finding another prime minister who could govern for a reasonable period with a working majority in the House of Commons".
The convention was in abeyance from 2011 to 2022, when the Sovereign's prerogative power to dissolve Parliament was removed by the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011. Following passage of the Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act 2022, which repealed the Fixed-term Parliaments Act, these principles are thought to have been revived.[1]
