Is that the lowest ban possible for that? Seems very harsh. I would have thought 3weeks max.

I've been banging on about this for decades now. No player should be allowed to speak with the ref, bar the captain, unless it's to bring attention to something like an injury. All this yabbering ("Ref, ref") to stop. Pen every time it happens.

He's literally just come back off a 2 week ban for a high upright tackle, and just done a tackle course to reduce that down from 3. There's no way he's getting significant reduction off the 6 weeks this time.

It’s his second red card in as many games, so he won’t get any time knocked off for good behaviour, even if the ban is as the lower end of the tariff.

And the ref had already warned Aki for complaining during the match, and told him that he would only talk to Connaught’s Captain.

I think you've asked me this before, but no, not off hand, but then I did leave when I was 18 and have an appalling memory for names.

Exactly.

I was quite surprised earlier at the amount of appealing the Wasps team were doing.

It’s easy enough to stop it so I’ve no idea why the authorities keep letting it go. I’ve heard it said that football allows it because it adds to the drama but I really hope we are not going down that route

Just runs into the ridiculous. In a football game today, a goal was scored and awarded. Might have been an offside but would have been impossible for the officials to see. No VAR. The players and dugout of the defending team basically complained for a couple of minutes and the goal was overturned after the replay was seen on a mobile phone!

Very different try to Glasgow's that one, but they all count.

Good to vary the quick tap approach.

Interesting to see both sets of flankers apoplectic at not being given pens as soon as they get hands on the ball carrier, even when they steal the ball. Rucks following scrums in existing to win penalties rather than anything else.

Just watching the Exeter game and off an Exeter lineout 5m out they set up the catch & drive. No problem. However, Whitten decides to run in from centre and joins the maul from the side but also at least a metre ahead of the actual ball carrier. This happened right in front of where the ref was looking.

That is against the Laws isn't it or am I wrong (again)?

As I understand it, it's against the laws. Enforcement of maul offences committed by the team in possession is a once in a blue moon event, though.

Players joining a maul must: Do so from an onside position. Bind on to the hindmost player in the maul.
Seems pretty clear to me

Refs ignore joining by the ball carrying side all the time.

Exeter really starting to run away with this now. Shickerling's really transformed the Chiefs' set piece. Really don't see the point of Iosefa-Scott.

I don't think there can be a side in the NH as sh*t at the rolling maul as LaR. Given the size of their pack, it's pitifully poor.

A dominant second half from Exeter after the early Glasgow try. Half century comes up on the scoreboard.

Something I've never seen before in the LI v Edinburgh game earlier. Scuffle off the ball was looked at by the TMO and Creevy shown a yellow card for a hand to the face. He complained so much about what had happened before that the ref actually told the TMO to look at it again.

At which point he unearthed pictures of Creevy headbutting an Edinburgh player and he was red carded instead.

I didn't see the game but I'm told the ref bottled it at the last scrum in front of LI's posts on 80 mins, LI front row folded but got the penalty.

Shit happens.

Bristol are going well tonight.

When Radradra is playing like this you have to think everyone needs a Semi,

Don't read too much into that. Hard to fathom how Quesda still has a job at Paris. Highest budget in T14 I think and been playing like drains for 2 years. Lumpy recently got the top award with Sopaga as the "biggest flops" this season to date. In a relegation battle when they field their 1st team. This is something less than that and it's clear those on the pitch aren't even trying.

Swings and roundabouts. LI under slightly more pressure, but first movement down was from the Edinburgh LH. Could have been collapsing from Ed or hinging from LI.

Jamie Ritchie got away with an upright head on head tackle on Rogerson that drew blood earlier. Apparently looked at by the TMO. Not sure what was said as they were speaking Italian, but amazed he got away with it.

I'm not reading anything into it, I take these games at face value because I don't have the time anymore to follow the other leagues like I used to.

Bristol's performances have generally been on an upward trajectory since around the Christmas period. This could be a good one to help build their confidence even if Stade aren't the stiffest of opposition.

I looked for the highlights but they didn't show the last scrum.

There were some complaints about Creevy obstructing for the second LI try, I can see both points of view on it, he does commit Bradbury to an off the ball tackle because of his obstructing line, Bradbury's man was the one who scored, but then Bradbury did tackle Creevy without the ball.
