It is remarkable how much voice in our media these people get. Desperate to show Russia as mighty military power and Putin as a strategic genius.

It's not that hard for Russia to point to success lately. They just point at the map

It's taken almost 80 days to take two cities, at the cost of tens of thousands of casualties, and hundreds, if not thousands, of vehicles and weapons systems. And after all that the Ukrainians still retreated in good order to another defensive line. You have a very odd definition of success.

This is the scale of the diminution of Russian ambition and capacity in the last three months.

I've heard an estimate that the Russians took 15k casualties taking Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk, with at least 5k dead.

The Ukrainians have shown from day one, that they have mastered the gathering of targeting intelligence with drones, & they've, what looks like the State of the Art software for Artillery targeting.

Combine that with the US & NATO allies providing MLRS, & modern towed artillery, & you've a potent mix; & I imagine that NATO is already making arrangements to copy the software, & have it integrated with their own drone surveillance systems.

It seems that we have now more and more tweets with Russian assets being blown up. Signs that the tide could be changing? Or still anecdoctical?

Its like the reverse of that scene in the A-Team, instead of tanks being dropped from aircraft, they're instead being blown up so high, they're a hazard to low flying aircraft

I'm thinking these are people that are more likely to just run away as soon as they think they're able? They know they'll just be meat, so take the freedom and get out of there.

Something very interesting and virtually unreported is happening across Europe - a massive increase in munitions production. Anecdotally, the largest rolled copper works in Germany, and by extension Europe, has seen the amount of it's stock dedicated to ammunition production increase from 5% in February to 70% currently. Some factories have added 3 to 4 extra shifts to cope with increased demand.

I've wondered about this? During the War, factories had to be converted to provide extra equipment and materiel. I wondered if weapons / munitions companies would add extra shifts or somehow have a way of increasing production by opening an extra facility with more equipment. But is it worth doing that when this thing isn't likely to last as long / become a total war? Extra people running the same equipment longer than usual then?

Interesting article pointing out that Iranian oil prices are dropping as Iran competes with Russia for the Chinese market (one of the rare ones it has access to).

This is also putting pressure on African oil producers and starting to make the Middle Eastern producers uneasy.

Could be good news for the world and remove one of Putin's blackmailing tool.

I wonder how long Ukrainian troops in Donbass can hold. They have been bombarded for weeks, they are fighting against a superior enemy (locally) and morale must not be very high.

Zelensky has acknowledged this, promising that his army were focusing their efforts first on Kharkiv and Kherson region, hoping to then come back to liberate Donbass. But these guys need some support urgently.

He would be wise to pull them out and switch to a guerrilla war and tie as many Russian troops down. The Russians don't fare well in that sort of warfare as history shows.
