I enjoyed Obi-Wan Kenobi tremendously. The final duel was great, and its payoff was pretty emotionally raw for anyone who is more than vaguely invested in the characters.
Pretty sure that is just a fan-made fake trailermat the expat wrote: ↑Tue Jun 21, 2022 3:31 amThat is fantastic!
The original is repeated constantly here in Oz - I watch it most evenings.
It stopped watching when I saw Niles as his character in the film the perfect host
I watched the first episode. Which was good but I am now having to re-watch the last couple of the last series as there a number of instances where I was not sure if I'd misremembered things, or if they were following a storyline that jarred with the past.
BTW, great product placement by Land Rover.
Well, obviously.Cartman wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 12:31 pmPretty sure that is just a fan-made fake trailermat the expat wrote: ↑Tue Jun 21, 2022 3:31 amThat is fantastic!

The Boys episode 7 has altogether too many Yanks doing terrible approximations of cockney accents. Having Karl Urban do his is just about ok, but we really didn't need anyone joining in with his laughable efforts.
First 2 episodes were decent. Not sure how it compares to the book but started listening to the recent Joe Rogan podcast with Jack Carr and he seemed chuffed with the production.
Quite a few veterans got wee roles in it too which appeals to me.
I did go back and rewatch the last two episodes again. And it turns out my recollection was adequate and a lot of what went on in season 4 episode 1 is surprising given where the last series ended. Still, filling in some of the 7 year gap may clarify.
Season 3 did get a bit 'too clever by half' in the end. Still, I was quite pleased to see season 4 started and watched it as soon as I realised it was on.
Wasn't loving it in the first two episodes

Didn't like all the is it/isn't it stuff, just felt overdone.

gives it a far more solid direction, whilst not removing the is it/isn't it type stuff completely

Couldn't agree more. But apart from that misdemeanor, it's been fucking brilliant and I can't wait for the finale.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Sun Jul 03, 2022 1:21 pm The Boys episode 7 has altogether too many Yanks doing terrible approximations of cockney accents. Stranger Things probably could have done with keeping some secrets in the locker but it was a decent finale to the season. Expect Metallica to get to no 1 now.

If it takes Stranger Things to introduce Gen Z to rock and metal I'll take it.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Tue Jul 05, 2022 4:34 pm Stranger Things probably could have done with keeping some secrets in the locker but it was a decent finale to the season. Expect Metallica to get to no 1 now.

Serial killer/prison drama/detective series. I'm on episode 3 and its the best thing I've seen for a while. Taron Egerton, Greg Kinnear and Ray Liotta in it.

I'm a bit mixed on it.

Thought we'd be rid of Homelander by now and fully focused on Neuman as a villain. Not sure we need another season where he's a key antagonist.
Glad they actually gave Maeve something substantial to do.

I quite like it to be honest, him straight up killing a guy and getting cheered for it sets up a full on civil war type scenario

Having kept him around, they do at least look poised to take the Trump-aping to it's logical conclusion.
Just finished this. Egerton and the lad from Cobra Kai were superb. I've no idea if the mannerisms of Hall were accurate but I thought it was very well acted nonetheless.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 9:23 am Serial killer/prison drama/detective series. Really enjoyed this show. Supporting actors were very good too. You're right about the Hall character, the portrayal was brilliant.

The Sandman seems pretty okay. No familiarity with the original story so just enjoying the silliness.

I do have the Sandman Preludes & Nocturnes graphic novel, so have some familiarity with the material, but I didn't bother picking the rest of it up. Having watched the first episode last night, I'll also not bother with the rest of the series. It bored the pants off me.

High ratings don't mean much. Both The Wire and Breaking Bad are pretty universally acclaimed and while I really enjoyed the former, I couldn't get through more than half a season of the latter.
Well, they are based on ratings from many people.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 9:52 am High ratings don't mean much. Both The Wire and Breaking Bad are pretty universally acclaimed and while I really enjoyed the former, I couldn't get through more than half a season of the latter.
Not just one opinion from a contrarian such as yourself.
So there !!

Loved Breaking Bad... struggled with The Wire... gave up half way through Season 2... just didn't hold me... I liked We Own This City though... go figure...Uncle fester wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 10:56 amLike you, struggled to get through Breaking Bad.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Sat Aug 06, 2022 9:52 am High ratings don't mean much. I think it was better than breaking bad. Different, but better IMO.
