Saturday's Guinness Pro14 clash between Connacht and the Dragons has been postponed due to an outbreak of Covid-19 within the Dragons' squad.

The Dragons returned seven new positive Covid-19 tests this week as part of the Welsh Rugby's weekly testing programme.

Working alongside Public Health Wales the decision has been made to close operations within the club for a fortnight, with no training or games to take place during this time.
Fingers crossed it doesn't go any further.

The fail have come out with a piece on the blues tryign to sign wainwright. He'd be a great signing, especially if we played him solely at 8, with no big Nick, Navidis rapidly approaching 30 he could be just what we need over the next decade, I'd take Rhodri in a heart beat too, and moving to Cardiff would no doubt advance both their international claims, but Wainrwrights in the 38, and rhodri isn't.

With the new funding structure, it seems harder than ever for the Dragons to hold onto any real quality

Timings random though and last game at least defence wasn’t the glaring issue. Is it a precursor to clearing house or has pivac panicked?

As per a previous post of mine, many players are apparently not happy with Pivac and his Scarlets bias, especially the cardiff and ospreys players at the start of this belated campaign(reluactant to call it bias, outright favouritism is probably better). haywards defence apparently causing great frustration in the team, rumours suggest this may be an act of appeasement by Pivac as hayward was public and team enemy number one. Can't imagine it will be limited to this.

Player power undoubtedly had its part. Gethin no doubt will just reinsate Edwards tactics, with the fall guy gone, It'll move to humphries and then media darling himself Jones.

Tipuric has alledgedly called wales "a sinking ship"

This is second hand info, I know first hand from a Cardiff winger, there's not a lot of respect for the entire team

Its obvious there is A ton of frustration out there, and Pivac will in the end suffer the fate of so many regional or Welsh club coaches, the team look tired, pissed off, confused and just lack any kind of commitment.
lose all our games this autumn and he will be gone, Gatland played to our strengths, Pivac is trying to turn them into the Scarlets, it won't work.

we've just bargained all our players down to 75% of their salary, and then slung £5m of debt at each region, effectively handing out that salary reduction for a few years on top. can't imagine paying off the coaching team and buying in a new one would go down well. We had a chance, we blew it. blame the turks and the outgoing WRU heads

There's a clause in their contracts for June 2021 - so doubt termination is going to cost the WRU big bucks.

It will arguably cost them a lot more to have Team Wales flailing around & fighting for wooden spoons for the next few years

Correct, if 'Team Wales' start to lose support (outside of 6N's games when supporters are back) then they're screwed. We're going to get man shamed by the Irish

I think Theflier is right though - It would be a bad look to sack Pivac & appoint his replacement - having just issued that loan & pay-cuts elsewhere

Pivac will be binned after the next 6N / next June (whichever comes first). There'll be more coaches available then to replace him as well.

In the meantime we can enjoy some good old-fashioned bummings by the Irish & English.

Joy.

Exactly, its shit, but the best we can hope for is some serious gapings to cement what needs to be done, and offer the position as a top seed guaranteed world cup team head coach and appoint accordingly, and prosper at the thought the turks malignancy will be silenced for the short to medium future. with lam under lock and key, robertson will probably be our man

I hope Pivac can turn things around, but if its true the players are already pissed off with him then he has a ton of problems, I think Wales was an environment where the players loved to go when things were shit in the region, but if Pivac game is causing confusion then he's fucked.

Zebre at home aside, its mightily difficult to see where the next wins for the dregs or Os comes from this season, apart from each other. Very grim, argument fro 3 pro teams will gain pace after this season

It's grim for all the regions indeed. Speaking of Zebra, lets see if the Scarlets can do the business.

Suddenly things don't look so good for the Scarlets. A flat pass picked off and Zebre are over. Fortunately conversion missed at it's 15-14 Scarlets with just over 20 left.

Zebre flanker Koffi needs a smack for that. Playing the ball on the ground when there was no need. Great break from Zebre and the ball was coming back their way.

Dunno, heard 17 overall. Still riding that winning season reputation, Cardiff would've seen a card or two.

I don't hate the Scarlets per se, but I hate 1) the subjective nature of funding allocation 2) the doubling down on how that is a poor strategy given the results we can see.

Apparently O'Brien is on well north of £130k. Madness

Well I've asked some of the boys from back in my day, they played it down, said there's a general malaise ongoing, but blame isn't really being pointed or dished out and the lads apparently are keen to overcome it. The guys I know at Cardiff maintain a few of the lads are still disgruntled about not being selected, but don't really know Pivac or any of his staff too well, so its more of a bitter pill and scarlets favouritism fits the blame bill.

Couple of the Gwlad lot reporting this from whatsapp,

It’s been confirmed that Haywood has “mutually” left the Welsh set up. Apparently players not getting on with his or Pivac’s methods. Medical staff are also walking. Pivac is going to be announced soon as well, his coaching approach is why the likes of Warburton left the set-up.
Scott Robertson from New Zealand to take over.

Crazy if true. I wanted Pivac gone before he became a contender, but I'd have at least let him see out this tourney. It would make sense for someone like robertson, can't imagine his NZR contract compares to Lams Bristol buy out, gives him 2 years knowing he'll be 3 knock out games away from winning a RWC, and if he does it, foster is probably fired and he can go get the job he wants.

Its hard to believe this, given none of it was apparently ever an issue at the turks

Pro sport can be a cunt of a job
