https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lascelles_PrinciplesThe Lascelles Principles are a constitutional convention in the United Kingdom beginning in 1950, under which the Sovereign can refuse a request from the Prime Minister to dissolve Parliament if three conditions were met:
if the existing Parliament was still "vital, viable, and capable of doing its job",
if a general election would be "detrimental to the national economy", and
if the Sovereign could "rely on finding another prime minister who could govern for a reasonable period with a working majority in the House of Commons".
The convention was in abeyance from 2011 to 2022, when the Sovereign's prerogative power to dissolve Parliament was removed by the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011. Following passage of the Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act 2022, which repealed the Fixed-term Parliaments Act, these principles are thought to have been revived.[1]

Don't think there will be, they'll all close ranks now. They can't start admitting to how totally and utterly ill equipped for the job Johnson was because they gave him that job. Don't even think the usual Tory propagandists like Tim Shipman will cancel it because there is no favourable light you can show Boris in. Especially if we're honest about Brexit not helping the covid vaccine program because we were in the EU when that was ongoing and post leaving supply chain difficulties meant we couldn't get the vaccines and his support for Ukraine is tainted by how much he's using them as a political shield.
Only if you include Thatcher and Blair, who more confirm the 'term dictatorship' hypothesis. And as for Wilson ? Scraping the barrel my friend.
It would be far more correct to say that Brexit caused the demise of Cameron, May, and now Johnson, and probably the next couple of PM's as well, unless the UK reconcile themselves that what being an 'Other' country to the EU actually means.

The Tories repealed the Fixed-term Parliaments Act, in other words took power away from parliament and gave it to the PM. The likes of Rees-Mogg openly talk about creating a presidential system where the PM has total power ("will of the people, give all the power to the Big Dog" etc), and that's what the Tories have voted for like zombies. They voted for Johnson and set about increasing his powers. Now they waffle about convention, something Johnson isn't interested in and they didn't have to rely on.
Guessing he soon won't have a cabinet other than Dorries and Rees-Mogg. Hopefully he decides to call an election ("there's no government so I regrettably have no other choice" or some bullshit) and the Tories are wiped out, like convention he doesn't care about the Tory party.
Mad Nad reportedly gone in now!

Needs an "Et tu Brute?" moment
The total number of ministers to have quit Boris Johnson's government now stands at 37 after James Sunderland resigned as PPS at Defra.
Johnson has seen more resignations in a single day than any Prime Minister in history
I honestly believe that the Blonde Bumblecunt is shitting himself and refusing to go because he knows all the shit behind the scenes will be exposed and he will be in deep trouble. Not least the Russian report and the background to Lebedev's peerage will come out and with it will be more info on the Bunga Bunga parties in their Italian villa. I also strongly suspect that theses guys will have some form of kompromat on him and will leak it once he is no longer of any use. to them. They, or at least Lebedev Snr will be keen to shake the foundations of the UK Gov and, as with Brexit, create chaos in UK systems in same way as Trump did and is doing in the US. The info on Vote Leave, Russian money, dodgy PPE contracts, etc will all come out and there will be an almighty stushie about the secretive funding that got the BB into power and the expectations they had in return. The Blonde Bumblecunt now knows he is toast and is truly shitting himself about what is to come, not least the stopping of all the 'donations', 'funding' and other dodgy income into his pockets as his friends/backers don't want to be associated with the smell of shite that will emanate from him. Nuts Nuts will be off into the arms of Zac 'what is it you like about this multi millionaire' Goldsmith.
In short the BB's whole world is about to come crashing around his ears and he is desperately trying to avoid the inevitable. He won't! I hope he gets exactly what he deserves and at the very least rots in hell.

No chance. The security services won't actively investigate a former PM and his relationship with a foreign spy because it reflects poorly on them for allowing it. Either they're incompetent or ineffective. Neither is good. And the Tories won't publish the Russia report because it reflects badly on all of them and every structure in society they have built. Boris Johnson is a figure in the London laundromat but it started way before him.dpedin wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 5:29 pm I honestly believe that the Blonde Bumblecunt is shitting himself and refusing to go because he knows all the shit behind the scenes will be exposed and he will be in deep trouble. Also I doubt Johnson would care that much about Carrie leaving. Say what you want about Johnson he is a shagger. Probably has a missus on the go right now.
Big ‘if’ he calls a GE to try to save his skin (tinpot Tump) could the tories take the whip away and force him to fight under the Bumblecvnt party? I mean they couldn’t support him after wanting to ditch him. Would be total chaos and such fun to watch for an impartial observer.

There does seem to have been some leakage of hellspawn to our end.
He's going to try and hang on and force them to change the rules to chuck him out.
They already can't find any MPs to fill the vacancies in Government - and that's only going to get worse when more of the cabinet resign.
What an absolute farce - but the Tories are getting exactly what they asked for - they knew what he was when they elected him.

Remember how whenever any of us pointed out his awful behavior, & endless character flaws, & often outright criminality or corruption; what did we hear .... "it's all priced in" !
Well it's too late now for them to pretend that his shitshow is now a surprise, because for me; this is what I, priced in !!
We're hearing now from Labour MP Conor McGuinn, who says the government has had to cancel bill committees due to take place in parliament tomorrow because "they now don't have enough ministers to attend".
McGuinn says key legislation will have to be "effectively suspended" as a result.
He adds: "A government that cannot perform even the most basic tasks needed to govern."

That's pretty much exactly what I'd expect of any of them, nothing matters until it's they personally are impacted.

Yep. Malignant narcissist.
He will emulate his hero, Churchill, though. The one who fucked up the Dardanelles and the economy.
I've also seen him compared to Nero, which is wrong, as Nero fell on his sword/got himself stabbed because he couldn't do it when all was lost.
Johnson, with his love of classics, is Vitellius, a fat, lazy fuck whose reign ended in him being dragged through the streets, pelted with shit by the mob, publicly butchered and flung into the Tiber.
Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis resigns@ChrisMasonBBC is told Mr Lewis was heckled by a fellow passenger on a flight from Belfast to London tonight - the passenger saying "you are complicit in the betrayal of this country by Boris Johnson"https://t.co/HTR2Ocbex2

WTF is Zahawi up to?
PM in 'buoyant mood' and will announce economic plan with new chancellor tomorrow
Boris Johnson's parliamentary private secretary James Duddridge has told Sky News the PM is in a "buoyant mood and will fight on".
"He has a 14 million mandate and so much to do for the country," Mr Duddridge said.
"I expect him to make senior cabinet appointments this evening and am looking forward to hearing what the PM and his fantastic Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi have to say tomorrow."
He says there will be a joint plan for the economy laid out by Mr Johnson and Mr Zahawi tomorrow.

Nadhim Zahawi 'will not resign' a day after being made chancellor
A source close to Nadhim Zahawi has said he is not resigning as chancellor - a day after he was appointed - after claims he was part of the delegation of MPs telling the PM to go.
The source told Sky's political correspondent Liz Bates: "He wants to focus on lowering the tax burden and help with the cost of living stuff at the department."
They added that Mr Zahawi is "realistic" about the scale of the challenge (ie the number of resignations).
