Day after my 1st AZ jab, fine overnight, a slight headache today and some more general very slight achiness but nothing I wouldn't expect on any other day TBH.

I’m a bit atypical because I’m on immunotherapy so my reaction could be different. But my daughter is also having hers.

TBF, 1 hour would be a fairly rapid reaction time for anything other than anaphylaxis. Clear 24 hours and you;re probably out of the woods

Glad to hear as I’ll get my 2nd one the 31st, also in general, the side effects in people over 55 tend to be less or lighter since their immune systems are not as strong as those of younger people.

I hope it's remembered and the techniques and policies held in place. Should something similar come along, it's at a pace where the population could be fully first dose vaccinated, before requiring the second dose (with a similar dosing regime).

Supply will always be the issue, as we're now seeing. As with everything of this nature, we'll probably keep the knowledge and investments for a generation or so, then start scaling it back to spend the money on more politically popular measures

Had my AZ vaccine on Friday. No effects apart from a bit of a dead arm.

US trial data is in for AZ. 79% effective, in preventing symptomatic Covid, 100% effective in preventing hospitalisation. 25% of participants were over 65 and the %s were the same across all age groups

I think they will. They have run out of excuses not to and there are now plenty of expensive, US made vaccines available for their own population.

But you just know 2 days after the plane takes off for Lagos, they'll approve the vaccine and then their own people will ask for those MEP's heads on a stichwaffe. Lose lose.

That French figure in particular is what you get when you combine a worryingly anti-vax adjacent population with a prick like Macron chucking out terms like 'quasi-innefective' when talking about it.

Even elderly Aussies are now showing a reluctance to have the AZ jab.
As for all those small third world countries which totally rely on AZ, they are going to be seriously screwed if their populations start having 2nd thoughts about getting vaccinated. Thye dont have the luxury of waiting for other vaccine shots.

I had my AZ vaccine yesterday and the pharmacist made a deliberate effort to talk through side effects and how safe it was and addressed ‘stories you might have heard coming from Europe’. Also had side effect info stapled to the card. Talked to my friend who went through same centre two weeks ago and she said they did touch on it but not to the same extent. Im glad they are making an effort to address it.

If the US approve AZ I think it will go some way to help the image problem.

One of the good things about being old(ish) is not worrying about long-term side-effects.

The French had awful presidents for the last 15years but this one is the worst since Petain in 1942.

Interesting how reading some of the reporting about the EU/AZ dispute little nuggets of information are coming out.

A major part of the reason that UK shortfall is below plan is that Cobra Biologics (up in Keele) is not fully functional. No-one's being entirely clear what's going on there.

In the EU, the Halix plant was massively underperforming until fairly recently when a UK team of AZ, Oxford, and UK gov staff went over to work out how to improve yields. That's now up to speed and Halix has been producing what's described as "good" yields but still needs sign off from EMA for EU supply. Halix was planned to be part of the UK supply chain back as early as May last year, and was signed off by MHRA sometime around June/July
