Not a good look.

What's the endgame here? Open the door to Ukranian refugees and expect them all to leave once there is an end to the war? Or is there a labour shortage down south that they will fill?

Either way, I think you need to bring the locals with you on the journey, and not just dump a load of blokes into a rural community without housing or jobs and expect everything to be hunky dory.
Don't think any of these are Ukrainians. Probably wouldn't be a protest if they were.

The country is at saturation point with regard to accommodation. The choice is put these guys up in a disused hotel complex or have them sleep on chairs or on the street. The men mostly don't want to be there either but the alternative is worse.

Not sure what you mean by 'without housing' though.
Meant available and surplus housing, which from what I understand is practically non-existent in RoI these days. And even then, handing them over to new arrivals over people on housing waiting lists will rile people up further.

Putting people up in hotels isn't great for communities, although probably good business for the owners.

The town I'm from has shut down a hotel purely for accomodating refugees. They also had a really cool soft play area that was very popular, so the community used to go there for Sunday carveries and let the kids run about. Now both are off limits, and the town only has 1 other hotel for guests. So I can understand why locals would be annoyed, and that's not a "far-right racist" argument, just a criticism of a poorly thought out government policy.

As I understand it, this was a disused hotel complex so not comparable to your example. I agree that it sucks that services have been reduced to accommodate Ukrainians but probably better than losing everything you own, fleeing your country and having loved ones killed.

Back to this hotel complex, it's in rural Ireland with not a lot going on there. These aren't houses that someone from Dublin would love to get their hands on. It's not taking from the housing stock.

What is it with knackers/scummers and the heat?

Seen over the weekend there was a video of a brawl in Ballymun doing the rounds, then on Saturday night some lad seems to have been kicked to within a few inches of his life at Ballymoney train station.

Few other videos emerging of the All Ireland Scummer championships over the weekend.

Some mass brawl at a beach in North Dublin on Sunday night amd a crowd of girls beating the face off each other at Warrenpoint.

The big question on everyones' minds is will the weather hold for round 2 next weekend?
