I caught the start and last few laps, doesn't seem like I missed much
First 15 laps or so were entertaining, but the safety car killed it

In other news...
Silverstone have renamed the pit straight the Hamilton straight.
And McLaren have sold 15% (increasing to 33%) of the racing team to a YS led consortium in return for $185 million over the next couple of years

Christ this track is dull. Mercedes engine is turned down, Verstappen doing a Hamilton out front, but Albon still can't get onto the gearbox of Hamilton
It used to be Hungary; but Abu Dhabi is much, much worse.
Look at the money they spend on the place; & it's a monstrous turd of a circuit; not a single redeeming feature.

Lewis is a supremely fit 35 year old who had mild Covid symptoms, yet after the race he was fucked as a fat club racer.
“Just like flu....”

Tilke is German. Never let a German do the design. Get an Italian to design circuits.

Yep, Lewis was screwed today - you could hear on the radio Multiple negative tests or not - he wasn't really fit to drive today, and I suspect he wouldn't have been this time next week either

I'd agree completely if he hadn't also designed Turkey.
Most of his tracks are shite; but someone signs off on them; & they seem to be more concerned with taking money off Despots, than improving the spectacle.
How hard is it to build a track with some elevation changes ? It's the most obvious difference between shite tracks, & the decent ones.
I hope to God the rumors that Portimão is going to get a slot are true.

Meh, Portugal GP was good because it was wet. In the dry that track is narrow and boring too.

Portimoa has some wide corners and quite a lot of vertical. Maybe this season it's been a lack of data - but maybe it has been the difference. I certainly don't think that F1 would be hurt by giving drivers a much broader set of challenges

anything that isn't like a tesco carpark would be an improvement over some of the current tracks

Tsunoda was the worst kept secret in F1. Everyone knew that he had that seat as soon as he picked up his superlicense

Mercedes restructure - Toto, Infosys, and Daimler now equal partners in the team. Toto confirmed as principal for at least the next 3 years. Daimler and I eisteddfod desperate to.lock down Hamilton for at least the next 2 years - his brand is worth a huge amount to them

Radcliff is developing the group to get closer to the final manufactured product - which is the justification not just for the F1 sponsorship, but cycling, sailing, etc.
Maybe it's just an ego trip, maybe it's a genuine business plan.

It's called sportswashing. Ineos are one of the highest polluting companies in the world.

Yeah - the new owner had to spend something like $100million just to bring it up to that standard. I think it's a long way off

I wonder how many years it would take to pay back $100 million in SA ?
It would be nice to have another GP in the SH, & it could be swapped for one of the European legs, because it's in the right TZ; but if it doesn't wash it's face in local attendance; there's no point even talking about it; & I suspect it wouldn't.

Rabid corruption throughout the continent probably doesn't help either.
