There is a problem with 8A here.

The solution needed for the crossers & wordplay is actually spelt incorrectly. The setter assumed that the 2nd word in the answer is spelt in the Italian way, when in fact it should be spelt in the Portuguese fashion.

I couldn't parse it but thought it might be and couldn't get 2D at all to help since acuity and acumen were my only vague ideas but didn't parse either!
