It is odd because he reasonably had the expectation of a few more years of lucrative contracts with Ireland and Munster - I get money isn't everything and possibly he now has enough for a pretty comfortable life in SA but he's only 30.

Seems a great guy.

Good timing. He looked like he was on his last legs a bit. Right idea to go before you're forced to, and for a guy who makes as many hard carries as he does his body will be in bits soon anyway. Salvage what you can and go well.

And anyway, WTF diff does it make if his parents are next door or in Ulaan Bataar? He'd have to zoom them either way. Unless he changed nationalities again and became French.

Zoom isn't great with small kids. He wants his daughter to spend real time with her grandparents before they depart this mortal coil.
His wife and kid are back in SA since Xmas.
