Unforgettable character. Worth reading The Golden Boy for an insight to a darker side.

Hell of a keeper - caught March, bowled Lillee. The most common dismissal in his era I reckon.

I think there's something wrong with Mahanama Rod!
No, I don't think so Bill, I think that's a pretty appropriate place for it

Irrationally - never liked him as a player back in the day - well you know, Ashes, Aussies - but an incredible talent and by all accounts a kind and generous personality who gave a lot back to cricket after retirement.

RIP

I am sure that I read somewhere that all of Lillee's ct behind wickets in test cricket were to Marsh.

He also made clear his opposition to Chappell's decision to order his brother to bowl the infamous underarm delivery, basically turning his back on the bowler and mouthing "no, mate!". A hard opponent but a fair one.

RIP

Can see he apologises to the batsmen afterwards:

Before my time, but given cricket in this country and being a lover of this game I’m deeply saddened by his passing. Legend.

Fox Australia seem to be suggesting Shane Warne has passed away as well now.

They apparently hold the record of 95 dismissals

And didn't each of them retire with the same overall 'wicket haul'?

Chappell's were uber c**ts. There were a couple of blots on Marsh's career
1) The treatment of Kim Hughes and the betting allegations in the Botham "miracle".
2) The racist sledging of the Windies in '75 along with the string of bouncers which resulted in Lloyd determined to fight fire with fire.

It's lengthy at almost 30 minutes but Marsh appeared as a guest on one of the Australian sports panel shows (not a 'formal' type of format....) earlier this year. It's a lighthearted look back at his career and memories / observations of the game. Well worth a look if you have the time, it's a good laugh.
