US ad revenue at Musk's X declined each month since takeover -data

Oct 4 (Reuters) - Monthly U.S. ad revenue at social media platform X has declined at least 55% year-over-year each month since billionaire Elon Musk bought the company formerly known as Twitter in October 2022, according to third-party data provided to Reuters.

The company has struggled to retain some advertisers since the takeover, as brands have been wary of rapid changes under Musk's ownership. X's chief executive, Linda Yaccarino, is expected to meet on Thursday with bank lenders who helped finance Musk's acquisition to outline the company's business plans, according to a person familiar with the plans.

U.S. ad revenue dropped by 78% in December 2022 compared with the same month the previous year, the steepest monthly decline since the acquisition, according to ad analytics firm Guideline, which tracks advertising spending data from major ad agencies.

Ad revenue in August, the latest data available from Guideline, declined 60% year-over-year. X declined to comment on the data.

If you've any money invested in any of this grifters companies, I'd strongly advise moving it now !
The US Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating the range of Tesla’s electric vehicles after reports surfaced that the company was relying on exaggerated numbers.

In documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Tesla said that it had “received requests for information, including subpoenas from the DOJ, regarding certain matters associated with personal benefits, related parties, vehicle range and personnel decisions.”

Earlier this year, Reuters reported that Tesla had received so many customer complaints about range that it created a special “diversion team” to cancel their service appointments. Customers were incensed that their Tesla vehicles were falling well short of the advertised range, sometimes by as much as half the number of miles that they were purported to get on a full charge.
I don't think it's a surprise, or a coincidence that Tesla have finally, finally stopped promising FSD, after Musk promising it was just around the corner, for at least the last 6 years.

Remember, there are people who still think this fucking moron is actually a genius, which probably reflects their own room temperature IQ.

So after this moron has succeeded in reducing the value of Twitter to less than half of what he convinced other idiots to back him to pay for it ....

The blast radius of this fucking moron is huge; I was looking a week ago for an S&P tracker fund that I could invest in, & was horrified at just how many had an exposure to Tesla, & the whole Musk bubble, & the answer was pretty much everyone owns ~2%, & its multiples of that that will disappear from pensions when Tesla is properly valued.

The situation in Sweden is escalating for Tesla as other unions have come out in sympathy strike with the Tesla maintenances workers, which is apparently something the Swedes rarely do; they consider it their ultimate labour weapon to be deployed sparingly.

Teslas are not being taken off ships at the docks, charging points won't be repaired and a parts supplier has downed tools specifically for the brand. There are also rumblings about a strike brewing in Germany because Muskrat won't authorise the signing of collective bargaining agreements.

At.Fucking.Last !

The bell end has been claiming that these cars were FSD, while simultaneously telling states that they would never be better than L2 (i.e. glorified cruise control)
A judge has found “reasonable evidence” that Elon Musk and other executives at Tesla knew that the company’s self-driving technology was defective but still allowed the cars to be driven in an unsafe manner anyway, according to a recent ruling issued in Florida.

Palm Beach county circuit court judge Reid Scott said he had found evidence that Tesla “engaged in a marketing strategy that painted the products as autonomous” and that Musk’s public statements about the technology “had a significant effect on the belief about the capabilities of the products”.

The ruling, reported by Reuters on Wednesday, clears the way for a lawsuit over a fatal crash in 2019 north of Miami involving a Tesla Model 3. The vehicle crashed into an 18-wheeler truck that had turned on to the road into the path of driver Stephen Banner, shearing off the Tesla’s roof and killing Banner.

The lawsuit, brought by Banner’s wife, accuses the company of intentional misconduct and gross negligence, which could expose Tesla to punitive damages. The ruling comes after Tesla won two product liability lawsuits in California earlier this year focused on alleged defects in its Autopilot system.

Judge Scott also found that the plaintiff, Banner’s wife, should be able to argue to jurors that Tesla’s warnings in its manuals and “clickwrap” were inadequate. He said the accident is “eerily similar” to a 2016 fatal crash involving Joshua Brown in which the Autopilot system failed to detect crossing trucks.

“It would be reasonable to conclude that the Defendant Tesla through its CEO and engineers was acutely aware of the problem with the ‘Autopilot’ failing to detect cross traffic,” the judge wrote.

There's a damn good reason why Tesla don't make the same bullshit claims outside of the US, & it's not because they don't want to sell more cars there.

The beautiful thing about all of that interview is the way he keeps looking to the audience and expecting applause, and getting either silence or laughter (and it’s not Orville laughter).

The arrogance and entitlement are hugely on show here. He clearly thinks his mind is superior to the market.

He does the big dramatic slow repeat of GFY to an even lower response than he got the first time. Total inability to read the room, probably because as you say, he genuinely does think he is superior to everyone.

He's deluded... what's his personality type, he's mildly autistic or something similar, yeah?

EDIT... he's admitted to Aspberger's Syndrome

https://www.shortform.com/blog/elon-musk-psychology/
Isaacson writes that Elon Musk’s psychology includes his difficulties in understanding other people’s emotions and his need for constant, intense stimulation as a means to ward off depression. Isaacson discusses the background that gave rise to this psychological makeup.

Because Musk was unusually smart as a child, he started school a year early, perhaps to his disadvantage. Musk had trouble making friends, in part due to his difficulty interpreting emotions and personal cues—a trait which Musk would later identify as a symptom of Asperger’s syndrome. Musk was regularly beaten at school. At home, both he and his mother endured Musk’s father’s relentless verbal assaults. Musk’s parents divorced when he was eight years old. And, because his mother worked long hours to support them, he and his siblings had to fend for themselves.

Isaacson hints that Musk’s emotional development was stunted in childhood as a result of his father’s abuse—to survive, Musk learned to shut down his feelings. This, in combination with his Asperger’s traits, taught Musk to interpret emotions differently than those without such harsh backgrounds. Musk’s closest friends describe his childlike joy when he’s enthused by new ideas or projects, as well as his deep well of feelings for his family and loved ones. However, Musk has trouble with the feelings of others, which he approaches from an intellectual standpoint. Isaacson writes that when Musk feels threatened, he still shuts his feelings down in a heartbeat while using shows of anger to deflect the threat.
Reading the room isn't going to be a particular strong point of his

I read a theory recently that Musk really wants to sink Twitter/X and blame it on the advertisers to position himself as the ultimate free speech martyr. Apparently all he'd need to offset his $44b (?) Twitter loss would be a small bump in the Tesla share price... and he'd be the new right-wing Jesus.

That was a Slate article I believe. I think there is some merit to their analysis, that is what Elon thinks will happen, but I'm skeptical it will play out that way.

He can try to deflect blame for Twitter's demise all he wants but his fingerprints are all over it. It will only find traction among his sychophants. The beauty of it is that his Twiter rebrand to X will (finally) kill that dream of his as well as everybody will associate "X" with this saga and it will never have any credibility as a brand after this.

The myth of his supposed genius has been exposed in a very public way. And not that the Saudi's will even feel it, but it's great that they are also a major investor in this fiasco. Hopefully that well of infinate cash will also go dry for Musk. And it's only a matter of time until a market correction of Tesla's stock price occurs and with it a large chunk of Elon's wealth (and influence) will evaporate.

He can (and will) play up the free-speech martyr angle, but he's only going to find a receptive audience in the right-wing grifter ecosystem. They are probably licking their lips because they are going to fleece him for so much money it's actually hilarious. Hopefully the big whale will distract them them for a while so they can stop fleecing their blue collar cult followers for a little bit.

He was going on as well about how "these advertisers" will go down in history as the ones that destroyed twitter!

I think it's just his complete faith in his own greatness and lack of basis in reality rather than any 4D chess move regarding positioning himself in the public's psyche. He's just an over indulged child throwing a tantrum!

I've been saying for a while that I think he and others like him want to sink it.

Twitter was a crucial resource for the Arab Spring and in general it's been a great platform for experts to dispense knowledge to those who will listen on a huge array of topics. Given the former I don't think it's any accident that the Saudi's are some of the biggest investors currently. It certainly serves the purposes of vested interests in America to have something that's a proven organisational tool for civil unrest to be tanked at a time when inequality is hitting French Revolution levels and there's been a massive uptick in examples of mass protest be it the BLM marches or wave of successfull union-led strikes. Filling the platform with misinformation and unfiltered content depletes its utility to the enemies of the elite.

And not in a good way.
