The lad is really starting to show his true colours.
https://www.washingtonblade.com/2023/06 ... der-youth/Responding to Musk’s promise to fight for the criminalization of gender affirming care, anti-trans conservative media commentator and University of Toronto Professor Jordan Peterson tweeted, “Prison. Long term. Without Parole. No Mercy. And maybe for the compliant ‘therapists’ and the butchers they enable.” Musk replied, “Absolutely.”

I believe one of his many children is trans and has disowned the Tech Lord entirely.
I just read the entire article and it touches on that right at the end.Hal Jordan wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 2:10 pm I believe one of his many children is trans and has disowned the Tech Lord entirely.
Last year, Insider noted Musk’s comments about gender pronouns in its coverage of a Reuters report that the South African-born entrepreneur’s 18-year-old trans daughter had filed papers in a California court to legally change her first and last name and request a new birth certificate.
Per Reuters, the teen said that she no longer wished to be “related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”
A month later, the elder Musk publicly declared his support for the Republican Party. In an interview with the Financial Times, he said the reason for his estrangement from his daughter was “full on communism” in elite colleges and universities.

they confirm he had been fired.
now Musk is trying the massive U-turn since he found out how much it would cost him and now basically begging him to stay on in another fumbling PR blunder.

Well apparently in the latest bid to piss users off it is being claimed now that unverified Twitter accounts are now limited to reading 600 tweets a day, and that's what's giving the error messages

Is that 600 messages each? Or in total?
There's no way I'd read 600 tweets a day.

It's not at all clear how it works, does it include tweets that appear in your feeds regardless of whether you open them, and when you open one to read do all the replies count? How is a user supposed to keep track of how many they heave read? Sure I haven't opened 600 tweets to read today but I've been prevented from looking at any since mid-afternoon and now get the error when trying to just look at my lists.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 6:58 pm Is that 600 messages each? It's bollocks, and just a move to try to make all users pay for a verified account through subscription.
Could also mean creation of millions more bot accounts to try and get around the limit.

Jesus. Never considered that they might mean tweets in your feed.

What twitter really needed, instead of a fuckwits arrogant tech bro who genuinely thinks he's on a par with Newton, Maxwell and Einstein, was some decent analysis of the different modes of use and then a split into those different modes with accompanying different financial models.

I don't have a twitter account so no more reading tweets for me - including several posted here.
It's a mild annoyance but hardly a loss. I guess I am not the target market.

Twitter, once the most powerful real-time information system ever built, so much so someone accidentally live tweeted the death of bin Laden, now not only can’t be used to save lives from bad weather, but won’t even let the existence of bad weather be seen by the weather people.
The worst thing about twitter is that it seems that your feed now is all algorithm based.
There are some accounts that I follow whose tweets never come across my feed. The only reason I'm even aware of what they tweet is because I go to their account directly. Then I get tweets in my feed solely because I have liked something in the past that has a connection to the tweet.
It's really just become such a pile of crap.

Meta are launching a rival....

Jack Dorsey had this to say about it....
https://deadline.com/2023/07/instagrams ... 235429659/
Twitter users frustrated with the changes in the Elon Musk-led social media platform will now have the option to try Instagram’s Threads.
The app appeared in Apple’s iOS App Store and is expected to launch on July 6. A similar search in Android’s Google Play Store did not yield any results for Threads, as of this writing. iOS users can “get” the app now and it will download to their device once it is made available.
“Say more with Threads – Instagram’s text-based conversation app,” reads the app’s description. “Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow. Whatever it is you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things – or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world.”
A bonus feature of Threads is that Instagram users can transfer their username over to the new platform and won’t have to create a new profile making it a seamless transition.
The launch of Threads comes as Twitter users look for alternatives after Musk implemented viewing limits on the digital platform.
Jack Dorsey had this to say about it....
“All your Threads are belong to us,” Dorsey tweeted along with a screenshot of the data that the app may collect that links it back to the user.

On the positive side, my Tweets are being liked by a lot of charming young ladies who seem keen.

I'm coming round to the slightly conspiratorial idea that the whole point of Musk purchasing twitter was to trash it.
We've seen in the past how useful it's been for organising protests and even attempted revolutions in various areas of the globe. While many corners of it were pure cesspits, it is also home to many experts in their field happy to disseminate information to those willing to read it.
Meanwhile some of the super rich have been building underground bunkers and planning for societal collapse for a few years now and they've started openly talking about a fear of popular unrest in the face of ever worsening wealth disparity (of course actually trying to fix the problem isn't an option ).
They want to break it as an organisation tool and also continue to stoke left-right tensions so that the people are arguing with each other rather than fighting back in the class war being waged upon them by the wealth hoarders.

so apparently it has been rebranded as "X" with tweets now being known as "X's"
I mean if we were talking about a normal balanced human being then the evidence would be overwhelming. Alas we're talking about a narcissistic man child who also it seems is a compete and utter fucking idiot!sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Sun Jul 16, 2023 12:18 pm I'm coming round to the slightly conspiratorial idea that the whole point of Musk purchasing twitter was to trash it.

While it's possible to go too far with conspiracy, do not doubt that the owner class are constantly looking for ways to keep the rest of us from looking up at them and figuring out who the real enemies are. They've been getting twitchy lately*, ensuring that a usable information sharing platform no longer fulfils that purpose is entirely in keeping with the heinous shit we know they've done in the past, be it pumping out false 'studies' about climate change and the health impacts of smoking for decades, fuelling the opioid crisis (fuck you very much Sackler family) or the sheer corruption of reconstruction contracting in Afgahanistan and Iraq.Slick wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 4:41 pm"slightly"sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Sun Jul 16, 2023 12:18 pmSpoilerShowI'm coming round to the slightly conspiratorial idea that the whole point of Musk purchasing twitter was to trash it.

There was an interesting comment from a SpaceX employee a while back pointing out that all his other companies have a huge layer of management between Musk and important decision making. He can go out and do the cheerleading and raising money - which he is demonstrably good at - and the actual engineers get to work on cool products.EnergiseR2 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 8:19 pm The graphic design on the X is like something you would see on a cheap talcum powder your aunt would have bought you in 1987. Would not touch threads with a barge pole (huge personal data harvesting from Faecesbook) so big they won't launch in the EU due to data protection issues.
