In a game like sevens, I think I'd be doing exactly the same.

I genuinely hate the sevens law re mauls. It's supposed to be a game of movement and speed over and above 15's so the way they apply the maul law is an abomination.

Two teams cooperating to achieve a result that suits them both - isn’t that match fixing? Shades of the Germany Austria 0-0 in the 1970s.

Should have been penalised as an act contrary to the spirit of good sportsmanship.

Indeed, just testing my memory. Tbh in this case I think Argentina's behaviour is much worse than England's. I'm not sure what a ref can do on the pitch if teams connive like this.

It's become a bit of a bug bear of mine, especially, in Victoria, BC. High school here has stuck to 7s, saying they don't have the numbers for 15s. But many schools have enough for 10s. 7s clearly scares away the 'bigger' girls (would have me as well as a chubby gridiron lineman convert to rugby!). I brought this up with some long-time club players and we figured out that between the two women's clubs here, just three tight five players in the last 8 years are local! The rest are all people who moved here for school or work from places where they grew up playing 15s. But being the home of the Canadian 7s programs, they LOVE the sport here, though it's barely played at the adult level.

I like that you have to work a bit harder for your tries, more support for the individuals who make a break. I think 7s often makes it easier to defend if you have speed / energy left as it's fairly clear who to take. Multiple support runners and you're not so sure, but not as congested as 15s, obv.

There are full matches on youtube from the Brisbane 10s, but some top tries:

10s is definitely the superior game. It does allow for a bigger mix of player types and skill levels to enjoy a competition. If you're outmatched in 7s as a player or a team it is brutal.

They tend to be more like old school scrums, get down, the ball comes out quickly. If you've got a scrum you generally want to get your backs in motion because there's plenty of space for them with the forward bound up.

Regarding the OP, who was the AB forward who thought that would be a good idea to mimic in a test match last year?
