Despite it not being a full JWC, it's nice to play someone different in these. Anyone stand out to look out for in that SA squad?

It's difficult to look past the cross pool playoffs all resulting in wins for the teams from pool A. A team could easily finish bottom of that pool while still actually being pretty good.

To be honest I don't know any of them except the flyhalf and captain. He was on the bench for the Stormers in the semi and final. Played in the semi and looked ok.
Reinhardt Ludwig (Vodacom Bulls), Sacha Mngomezulu, Connor Evans (DHL Stormers) and Emirates Lions duo Nico Steyn and Ruan Venter have all been selected in the Junior Springboks after gaining URC game time in the last few months.

Mngomezulu, Ludwig, Moodie, Steyn, James and loose forward Siya Ningiza also represented Junior Springboks in last year’s successful U20 International Series in South Africa.

Just going by what others are saying ion the other place, but for whatever reason most of Ireeland's U20 Grand Slam side are missing from this tournament. Apparently it's mostly made up of the U19 squad. Would expect them to get fairly beaten up.

SA Rugby
The Junior Springboks arrived in Italy on Tuesday evening and immediately went about their business to fine tune their preparations for Friday’s opening match of the Under 20 Six Nations Summer Series against England in Verona.

So do the 6 nations team use this to develop for next year?

England have a few new lads in by the looks of things, but it definitely isn't an U19 squad.

I think England are typically a bit stronger in the Summer at this level. During the 6N there are usually some Premiership games to be played and senior players are off on national duty, so clubs will often hold onto some of the better players qualified for U20s or only release them for a couple of games rather than the whole tournament.

Will be interesting for England. They weren't great in the 6N, and you're right, they are often a JWC team.

Not sure this time though. You've got Joseph and Arundell in Australia with the senior team. No Baxter. And also guys like Bell, Cleaves and Bailey not involved.

Who knows though. Things may click a bit more for this comp. Having a really good 10 in Smith might make a big difference, as Benson and Johnson didn't really grasp the opportunity in the 6N.

Cheers. The SA teams will have a massive disadvantage not having played together as a team in a competition. They'll just need to hot top gear from the start. England will be a tough order for them.

Bulls Canan Moodie has withdrawn with injury which is a pity. A real star in the making. Sacha Mngomezulu played in the URC final off the bench - a very promising flyhalf (His dad's a pommie so he's England qualified too) Hands off him though, you guys have enough quality no.10s . Loosies Venter and Hanekom are typical huge Saffers, I rate them. Lock Reinhardt Ludwig played off the bench in several of the Bulls URC games. Merwe Olivier is a Brad Thorne type freak lock, not yet played senior rugby. The props are all large buggers.

So a very big and physical pack. I'm not so sure about the backs though. If they play typical SA rugby they should go alright.

Hopefully Carwyn Tuipulotu's in the squad. Kid is an absolute beast. Related to Faletau and the Vunipolas. I've been looking forward to seeing him play.

Interesting to see them put the player's weight on the jersey. I assume that's pounds, not kilograms.
