Picked up a cheap pair of hockey skates. Time to get back onto the ice after a few years hiatus.

I paid £27. Can’t find a Wahl for less than £70 at the moment.

Boringly, I need a new shower tap setup , there is about a 0.1mm zone on the tap that is ‘just right’ for a nice hot shower, and it’s very easy to err and either scald yourself or freeze yourself. Think the kids have been playing with the taps too much, and the cartridge thing inside is kaput.

Annoyingly you can’t change just a washer like an old tap, you have to buy the whole thing as it’s all sealed - wtaf

Taps and stuff drive me crazy. Some of these cartridges last about as long as lettuce. Progress I suppose

A cheap weight bench from Argos (get in!). Checked the app first thing in the morning and they had 2 ready for pick up.

Thing is, the old man offered me his the next day as he wasn't using it any more

A Harley Benton FRFR 1x12 guitar speaker. 2500 watts.
It allows me to get a true flat response with my Mooer Preamp live and HXFX, and has four speaker IRs loaded.

I can get some seriously beautiful chewy guitar tones

That's a gig strength amp. You got that in the house? Fuck the neighbours and all that?

Your username triggered me - just got hold of a new PC (inherited, not purchased so not suitable for this thread) and have decided to dust off my Line6 gear and hook it up to record some new tunes.

So what are you using as a audio interface and DAW?

We are so fortunate these days, with some of the software out there for free. Home recording is one of the things now wide open to the public and democratised.
The new Line6 stuff is great and the HXFX is a tidy cheapish purchase to get the HX effects side of things. Think Yamaha really took line6 (or part of it) to another level.
For my amp modelling (I basically got all the functionality of a Helix with two pedals, plus I can tone capture like a Kemper) I use a Mooer preamp live, that is just a marvelous bit of kit.
I actually intend to get 2 Harley Benton speakers (they are only 200 quid each) lol, and get into stereo.
Think the way they measure wattage on these FRFR speakers is deeply misleading though, compared to a real guitar amp. And it is a class C so only uses electricity at the volume you set it, so electricity Bill's shouldn't go insane.
It can be vvery very loud though.
You can spend hours sculpting a sound using the pedals I mentioned, and using headphones knowing that what will come out of the speaker, live is pretty much exactly what I get.

I've got ancient stuff, by digital standards. A Line6 KB37 - works perfectly for me as it means I can play synths on the same device I use to capture guitar, bass and vocals. And since I'm a rotten keys player it's all overdubs and single hand recording of the keys and it doesn't matter it only has 37 keys.

I record guitar either clean with a Boss ME-80 multipedal giving me the sound effects, or I use Line6 software depending on the sounds I'm looking for.

A few nice mics that I've completely forgotten the brand and specs of.

DAW is Ableton Live.

And Toontrack EZDrummer for all the grooves. That software really is the dog's bollocks.

It's served me well, still ridiculously proud of the two albums I made with that set up (although objectively they're undoubtedly shite) - but it's been over 5 years since I've recorded anything. Way too long.

Thanks, I really appreciate it, will look into a lot of this stuff. Need ideas. Heard great things about Ableton. Devin Townsend uses it I believe. Think he also uses it on stage (hence the "live " bit I guess) to do midi switching and control effects pedals changes, via midi signals.. which seems really cool and way to really exploit this digital stuff.
I am currently using Cakewalk software (Gibson give it away for free after they bought it out about five years ago and stopped developing it, now it is really great freeware) a Behinger USB audio interface for the guitar, though I can go with the old Boss Katana either direct or USB.
Unfortunately the HXFX doesn't come with a audio interface, unlike the Helix or Helix stomp.
For drums I was using a Drum Machine on my tablet that I bought on Google play. It can do all the funky beats.

Producing two albums of music is a awesome achievement.
I spend way too much time jamming to backing tracks to be that creative.

Sorry about your brother and your dad, when my caring career comes to an end I will be lost too I guess.

Yep, the jem is still being played to putty. Recently got it refretted and the guy who did it said it was the most played in guitar he has ever seen. He couldn't believe there was so much fret wear on the 21, 22 and 23 frets. He also said he couldn't even stick masking tape to the neck to mask the fretboard, while he polished the frets, as the wood was so damned smooth (from being played to death) the masking tape wouldn't adhere to it.
The thing is also quite valuable, saw one recently going for 3 grand on Reverb.com and I believe it sold.
I also now have a Harley Benton Fusion Pro 2 thing. It is a terrific (though heavy) guitar. Roasted Maple Neck, Stainless Steel Frets and a Wilkinson trem, decent pickups and aGraphtek nut..all for 370 quid.
I'm sorry I cannot remember your guitar collection. Why am I thinking Gibson?
