Going Dutch?

Greet Wilders Freedom party has won the largest number of votes in the Dutch elections.
The far right anti Islam nutter will probably not be able to close down borders or ban the Koran or ban mosques or Islamic schools.
Interesting times ahead in Europe.

Did someone zap the first thread on this, or am I going mad?

I assume it was zapped. Hopefully the author too.

Are any other european countries, other than the UK, looking likely to be stepping to the left in any upcoming elections?

Ah fine. I didn't actually open it as I tend to avoid Refry's weird stream of consciousness posts.

Didn't see the original thread.
I wonder what Geert would say about the UK's net migration of 745000 last year. The Tories leaky sieve policy.

Mine was much better. Nothing wrong with the first thread. Snowflake saffas.
They are not upset about Gerty at all.

Argentina had a influx of former fucking nazies and look what they have today.
The UK had a massive influx of former South African Dutch nazies, fresh from weed whacking anyone not white..over the last 25 years.. and look where we are.

When a country sheds its crazy white supremacist nazies they all have to end up somewhere.
They usually end up moaning about state funding, crying about taxes, bitching about the NHS and the poor sick and unemployed..and funding right wing causes.

Just said now they can return back to their fatherland and live happily under Gerty Wilders, instead of destroying liberal democracy.

It feels like every country nowadays had to go through its mad racist incited right wing populist phase, it's a bit like their teenage years when they decide to become a goth or a punk and rebel against all the rules but stilll expect mum to wash their clothes and cook their meals and dad to pick them up at the late night from the party? However after a wee dabble they all suddenly come to their senses and get rid of the bampots and weirdos and try to resort back to their previous normal. Problem is the damage that gets done, as in the UK with Brexit or the US with the storming of the Capitol. Perhaps we should just round up the likes of Farage, Johnson, Bolzano, Trump and his family, Wilders, Meloni, Erdogan, Netanyahu, Urban, the Chainsaw Man etc and send them all on a year long 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' show but with Squid Game style bush tucker trials every week. I would pay good money to watch it!

I think it's more deep-rooted than a teenage tantrum.

The main change for me is in the slipping of decorum and balance in favour of really quite excessive rhetoric - I remember when Farage's behaviour (in the sense of how he expressed himself, not the actual message) was generally seen as embarrassing and offensive, now we have a (thankfully ex) home secretary slagging off homeless and immigrants in terms unbefitting anyone in a public role and many in the electorate thinking that was acceptable. Utterly heartless and nasty, and I think utterly unprofessional and utterly unacceptable from someone who is supposed to be a leader in government. Farage, if anything, now seems mild in comparison.

It just normalises nasty rhetoric that itself normalises the worst stereotypes and discriminatory leanings.

How did we get here.

Ireland although I'd question the accuracy of labelling the shinners as left in the traditional sense.

Refry,

The vote in Holland was two fingers up to globalism and all that it entails.

Being serious. The incumbent parties have taken a hit (VVD, D66, CDA, CU), those who weren't in the government have grown (PVV, GL/PvdA), and a new party that's a split from CDA (NSC) has also grown.

That means a move to the far right (PVV, BBB) and to Green/Labour on the left (GL/PvdA), partly because those parties weren't in government. Some of the growth of the PVV and BBB is just horse trading among the right (far right parties JA21 and FvD both declined). There's similar horse trading around centre right parties losing to NSC. And the same again with smaller parties on the left losing support and GL/PvdA gaining. That's not the whole story but is a lot of it.

Where this leaves Geert, is probably all these parties refuse to form a collation with him: GL/PvdA, VVD, D66, SP, DENK, Volt and probably some other small parties (but who knows in the coalition horse trading). This is a problem for Geert because all those seats put together is close to a majority. So Geert really needs NSC (in the UK they would be Theresa May soft Brexit types), which has ruled out far right (PVV and FvD) as coalition partners in the past.

NSC looks like the king maker. They extract good terms to form a coalition. GL/PvdA, VVD, NSC (the 2nd/3rd/4th largest parties) and one smaller party looks the most likely. Which could end up being a move to the left given NSC's positions on some things and GL/PvdA being the largest part of that potential coalition.

Just my take though. Geert's kant will have to do a lot of work to form a coalition from this given most parties outright reject ever working with him, doesn't look possible for him without NSC. He would really need something like VVD and NSC backing him to have a stable government, but VVD (a liberal party, led by Dilan who is Kurdish/Turkish origin) is unlikely to back Geert's kant.

It's likely to be another very prolonged negotiation to form a majority government - could easily run to 6-9 months and ultimately new elections if none of the other bigger parties want to go into government with Wilders.
