Fijian Drua convincingly beat the Force on an incredibly wet surface.

Blues ahead 28-8 at HT, but their pack is struggling.

Nice to see Clarke pick up a rare try. He looks a lot sharper this year, although he's yet to be tested on defence.

I was going to comment on how much sharper Clarke looks, definitely slimmed down and picked up a yard of pace.

Game of the round up next in Dunedin: Highlanders vs Canes.

The hosts should be tough, but I expect the Capitalists to continue on their winning way.

Canes cruising 26-0 at HT.

Some lovely play by their backs - Roigard and Love in particular.

Speed and organisation is doing it for them. Each Canes player knows where they should be for each play, it's great to watch. The Highlanders need to slow the ball down somehow.

The Canes are playing such a well-organised game, they will be hard to beat this season.

Another amazing feature of the Canes this year is that they lost the World Player of the Year but still have the best backrow in the competition. Massive kudos to Lakai.

Razor is well known for solid selection policies. Just another big change from the Fozzy Muppet.

Canes win 47-12.

They're in great form this year... and have so much depth.

No, he's signed a contract to play for Saracens.

Why would the Crusaders have anything to do with that?

I never read it, but saw this headline

I think he'd probably be in line to be the Crusaders' starting 10 this season if fit but he's really only at the 'in contention for the spot' stage currently, bearing in mind he's yet to play this season coming back from an injury setback.

I was encouraged with his form last year as he stepped up from understudy to candidate in his own right but he hasn't yet spent time in the role. He's got a good set of skills, speed and a very level head under pressure... I expected he would have come into consideration for test selection eventually based on the rate of improvement he'd shown...

with all that said, you're probably right and he could turn into another version of James Lowe.

The timing seems odd given the changing of the guard... Maybe he got a quiet word from Razor that he wouldn't be in the frame?

Possible of course but unlikely I reckon considering he's shown good qualities so far...

he qualifies for English selection, I believe so perhaps that weighed on his decision along with what must be a reasonably lucrative deal, he's signed up for a long contract.

That's terrible news, he was looking like a walk up start for ABs selection. Best wishes to him... I guess if you have to suffer a serious injury like this then now is the best timing as he'll have time to recover well before the next RWC cycle puts pressure on him.

Yeap, clearly the name is all English.

For those trying to follow Super Rugby, the final match of the round saw the Brumbies snatch a hard earned 20-19 win over the Reds.

Reduced round seven

Friday

Blues vs Farce - put the house on the Aucks really

Rebels vs Drua - on paper the Drua should take this one, not discounting the Rebs though.

Saturday

Chiefs vs Moana Pasifika - Chiefs should take it over a much improved Pacific team

Brumbies vs Waratahs - should be match of the round but the Tahs have been woeful in recent weeks, Brumbies at a canter

Fijian Drua went into full nasty mode to lose this match.
Shoulders to the head, elbow smash to the back of an opponent's head and capped off with a head butt. Crazy.

The Drua coach has apologised for a full on implosion by his team

Chiefs ahead 28-0 at HT.

Backline's looking slick. Time to bench McKenzie imho.

Chiefs sneak home 68-12, scoring 10 tries with McKenzie converting 9 of them. Narawa got his hattrick while making it look easy. He's class.

This will be the second straight weekend featuring a mere 4 games.

Talk about letting the air out of the tyres. Shit scheduling.

Totally agree, Sup needs every post to be a winner - but hey gun/foot everytime.

This weekend see's some interesting clashes

Friday

Pasifika vs Reds - both teams needing a win here, think the Reds might edge it though not discounting the Islanders who have some decent wins so far in 24.

Tahs vs Crusaders - Unfort for the home side the Crusaders have sprung to life and let's face it the NSW boys are playing some woeful rugby. Crusaders grinding a win out.

Saturday

Hurrcanes vs Chiefs - match of the round, two inform teams clashing, home town advantage maybe or it could get to be a mare for the Capital supporters. Too close to call for mine, which means it is probably going to be a blow out to one team, expecting a Chief's win shockingly.

Rebels vs Highlanders - with the Rebs unable to afford half time oranges the Clan should run rough shod over them. Unless of course the RA collapse like a soggy house of cards and throw some extra cash Melbourne's way to at least go quarters at the half. Highlanders have a young team, have had some rough intros to the main game, should pay dividends here.
