Australia Vs India - Cricket series

First test underway in Perth. India won the toss and batted but it's hard work for them. 51/4 at lunch but already we have controversy.
Third umpire asked for another angle which wasn't provided. I'd assume he'd only ask for another angle if he wasn't sure. Then if he wasn't sure, why did he overturn the on field not out call? Poor use of technology and proper protocol not followed. KL hard done by. #AUSvIND

looks like a dodgy decision to me, but that's what you should expect when playing in OZ

really are the two most unlikeable sides in cricket

73/6 - Pant seems to be OK on the pitch but the others are all leaving with brown pants

All out 150. Pant and Reddy did well - the rest carried on their form from the NZ series.

Kohli looks a shadow of his former self, not scoring runs and dropping the first chance coming to him

Theyve done that scuffing up the batman's mark before, sure I remember it in an Ashes series. Wankers.

Shocked into silence. Bowl the oppo out for 150 then be 83 runs behind with only three wickets left. All on Day One.

Batters don't learn the skills of a juicy track these days. The "Hit and Giggle" roads don't need that sort of skill.

When I lived in Fremantle I had a decent circle of friends into all things sport, all from a range of home countries but united by our love of the ball. We went to an Ash's first day at the WACA once and saw 17 wickets fall

I've not watched this match, I'm working. I'm guessing it's at the Optus stadium? When they were looking at moving cricket there the talk was all about finding ways to recreate the WACA pitch with it's bounce and pace. I think they were importing a certain clay like soil from south of Perth for the foundation layer of the drop in pitches. I'm guessing it's worked out over the years since, then?

Bowled out for 104. Well done Starc.

Becoming a bit of a tired excuse for mine, considering they have been regularly trotting it out since the 1980s.

No one seems to have matured as a batsman, with a few exceptions, CA used to be fairly ruthless if a batter failed to perform over a couple of test matches, they seem to have forgotten the talent around State level at the moment.

That being said the wicket was made for pace, with the Aussie brain trust seemingly forgetting that Indian aren't too shabby in that area themselves.

India 68/0 in their second dig, batting more conservatively this time round, hasn't stopped the odd big shot coming out though ... speak of the devil 0/72

Stumps day 2

India 0/172, some dedication from the openers here, scoring slowly but keeping their wickets intact.

Another weird Aussie pitch. Can't they bat on their own pitches?

Loved the sledge from Jaiswal to Starc yesterday - "It's coming too slow", then slams him for 4.

Jaiswal ramps a bouncer from Hazlewood over the slips for six and his ton.

Closing on 150, another tough day in the field ahead of Australia, lead now over 300 and rising.

Kohli gets his 30th ton and India declare. Aus chasing 534 to win but have to bat for 20~30 mins this evening.

It's rare that I am happy to see a Kohli century, but given that tedious fuck McGrath singled him out before the match I'm quite happy he got his moment

I am surprised they declared. It worked, but with over 2 days remaining, I could see them going for another 90 minutes this morning when I went to bed.

Australia really showing some mettle and improving in the 2nd innings considerably. They may make 100 here for only 5 wickets.

Bumrah is still bowling really well here, getting Head for 89. Four wickets left and Aus need only a paltry 366

Is this the same India that NZ recently hammered? The batting, in particular, is largely unrecognisable. Who would have believed that Santner and Patel individually could ever do more damage than the combined might of the much-vaunted Oz bowling lineup?

On to Adelaide, lets see if the Aussie selectors respond or same old same old.

I would be surprised to see them make any significant changes, even those that seem necessary.

Well, they've announced a squad for the series so it would be unusual to say the least for any changes to be made to that squad.

India have come to Australia off the back of a series whitewash at home without making any drastic changes to their squad and no-one's commented on that.

the Adelaide test is a day nighter, again... Adelaide seems to get those now. Pink ball games are a lottery at best, changing personnel would be pointless. Be more interested to see how they might change their tactical thinking, they were clearly caught napping in Perth. It's either a reset and forget issue or they're looking at a more systemic problem, similar to the Fall of Rome.

Except Australia were expected to win with ease in Perth, and got roundly spanked by an apparently resurgent India.

Adelaide as you say is a toss up, day/night pink ball ... maybe we could have neon lights for the player names.

India have made a couple of changes, Australia a forced change after Warner pulled up stumps.

For one there's a couple of batsmen on borrowed time at the moment, will the powers that be have the backbone to make some changes, or will the team surprise and win in Adelaide?

Once again never count an Aussie team out.
