Spoke too soon - had it come up last night - but I just accepted the cookies (not the fee) and it carried on as usual - still no ads !! So all OK.

Just use and ad blocker. Stupidity blockers and Jake blockers might be harder to find though.

Tried to log in to see if anyone wants final tickets, and neither a log in, password reset or re-registration works.
What a pile of shite!!
