What better way to kick it off. Been whacking it to this on youtube;

now have 5 of the first 6 LP's my taek:

Come My Fanatics (1997) 9/10. dicks around a bit but when the planets align, The Doom Gods Are Appeased
Dopethrone (2000) 10/10. concrete mixer, meet cock
Let Us Prey (2002) 6/10. a lot of fuckign around here. wee bit frustrating
We Live (2004) 10/10. dumbarse me long thought this would be a live lp, from kind of after their sound went a tiny bit less concrete mixery. MORAN. amazed how fuckign awesome this is. the lp only track tacked on the end, ffs, 15 mins, 1 riff.

Witchcult Today (2007) 8.5/10. also fuckign awesome. they had NOT lost it by this stage as some fuckehead reviews would have you believe

Sod your slow. Fast sludge is where it's at.

(Cracking tune, MrBungle, Hooch. My favourite Melvins track)

ha yeah that whole LP is highly addictive. Didnt think much of the new one aside from "Infierno". Killer live version of that at the end of this. Barrier Hammer brings the munt hammer too

Aye, Restarter is a great album (including the slow stuff ;) ), and I didn't like Admission too much either. Title track is nice.

Still a great band.

EARTH. I think we'll look back on Dylan Carlson as the Brian Eno of doom. He was doing this shit a lonnng time ago.

from albums I've got:

extra capsular: plodding, slow, monotonous, fantastic
Earth II: muffled, slow, monotonous, fantastic
Angels I: clearer but still slow, monotonous, fantastic

i need MOARRR

But if we're talking post-rock/metal whatever - long slow endless etc., it's these guys for me:

Bossk's first couple of EPs are definitely on the heavier side when compared to the Audio Noir material

Cult of Luna are ace. I remember hearing this on a Kerrang sampler CD in ym mid-teens and being bowled over by it:

Up to that point I'd been listening largely to pop-punk and nu-metal and was starting to dip my toes in metalcore with the likes of Killswitch Engage; it was a sound beyond my frame of reference.

Cult of Luna sound very ISIS, wouldnt mind some of that.

Got that Pelican

Nebula, I remember them from Man's Ruin. such a sweet artistic aesthetic that label had. a few too many musical duds but it all looked so good. Housed under Mordam exclusive so cheap as shit wholesale back in the day. Then they suddenly folded around 1999 and ripped everyone off haha

sorry, I thought you started a doom metal thread because you wanted people to post doom metal bands, now I realise you just wanted people to post bands that you already like, next time be more specific about what you want

This has just had a remastered reissue on vinyl

"If you're unfamiliar, Population II -- which has been sought after by record collectors for decades, heavily bootlegged, and reissued a few times (but never digitally, and never with a remastering done to Holden's liking) -- is widely considered one of the earliest doom metal albums, and it's not hard to hear how influential it is and how timeless it still sounds today. Blue Cheer were proto-metal, emphasis on the "proto," but Population II sounds as evil as the Black Sabbath albums that came out that same year. The remaster of this stone-cold classic sounds great"

Cheers.

Hadn't heard that before. A few tracks in and it's really interesting for something recorded in that era.

While we're doing obscure stuff, I've always loved this tune from the early '90s. Got it from this actual sampler CD as well, don't think they ever made an album...

For a sampler that CD has some early tracks from some serious quality bands. One hidden gem on there is Accidental Suicide.

Starts out sounding like mid-paced old-school death metal, but quickly turns very death-doom, so relevant to this thread.

Another more death-metal leaning death-doom band I've been listening to a bit of late (along with the rest of the early-Finnish DM scene) is Rippikoulu

And now for something completely different:

Hadn't listened to this one for ages. Paul Chain playing his traditional style doom on the first 5 tracks, complete with his made up phonetic language as vocals. From track 6, vocals are taken over by Lee Dorian of Cathedral. Almost feels like a split album due to this, but definitely worth a listen if you like old-school style doom, that isn't paint-by-numbers.

One band I always think shouldve been huge was INDIAN. Just a perfect sound.

1 murderous 2xLP, two ep's then they signed to Relapse and went hyperspeed fast and ruined it

Pelican are an interesting band, up until City of Echoes they were quite heavy, which was my preferred incarnation, with tracks such as:

Then released City Of Echoes which was more accessible and should have seen them selling out stadiums.

After that they went a bit more metal which although good, in my view didn't match the earlier stuff.

Hey Colossus are great, love Four Bibles.

Old favourites of mine have re-emerged after 25 years with a stunning new album. Fantastic '90s doom.

I quite like the juxtaposition of this guy proclaiming ego is a problem. Especially when the first time he says it the lead guitarist starts a solo.

Decent tune, like it.

Teaming up with Johannes Persson from Cult of Luna no less.

Splurged on the Floor 8xCD box. So good but man its not an easy find, especially at an affordable price. Had no idea that the No Idea label version of one of the LP's was actually remastered and sped up back in the day.

Absolutely criminal for a slow and low doom band. Sped up?? Fucking slow it down if anything.
