Cage movie shyteness is directly proportional to how dodgy his haircut is.

Are you getting him mixed up with Peter O'Mahony by any chance?

I blame Andy Sandberg for creating the whole ironic Nick Cage worship.
As well as a thousand million Facebook Die Hard fans in their 20's
Why can't people just be original like me?

A lot of his earliest stuff was quality. Birdy and Raising Arizona for example.

oh...I am here to defend the man...
80s Work
Valley Girl, Peggy Sue Got Married, Raising Arizona, Moonstruck
90s
Honeymoon in Vegas, Guarding Tess (not my flavor, but folks like it), Leaving Las Vegas, Con Air, The Rock, Faceoff (come on enjoy the greatness/terribleness),
2000s
Adaptation, National Treasure (people love this stuff), The Weather Man, Knowing (thought it was worth the watch), Bad Lieutenant
2010s
Joe (great movie), good in Snowden, Kick-Ass
Sure, he has lots of stinkers....but there are so many worse folks than him..I mean Raising AZ alone would always make me a fan...and really really great performance in Adaptation where he should have won an Oscar

If you can't enjoy him in Vampire's Kiss then I don't think you should watch films.

Raising Arizona is a fantastic film, but not because Cage is in it. Holly Hunter owned that movie!

He's not that bad in 8mm. I like that film (as did Roger Ebert).

I was told that Cage takes on any script he gets and that's why he has so many stinkers. There's certainly a few movies of his that I enjoyed over the years but I wont say I'm a fanboy though.

Raising Arizona, Leaving Las Vegas, Matchstick men and Lord of War
Then there's a decent handful of entertaining ones where he's not unbearable
and then there's a ton of shit, hard to pick a winner but Face/Off is up there with Armageddon on my uber crap list.

Yes, great film. Ridley Scott I think. And featuring Sam Rockwell, another one of my favorite actors.
edit: just looked it up, directed by Ridley Scott and music by Hans Zimmer! Quality throughout.

The only thing worthwhile about Cage now is he's willing to appear in some interesting horror flicks. Colour Out Of Space was grand. Mandy was an overrated turd, but it was trying to do something a bit different at least. Mom and Dad was fun if a little silly in places.
