it's been posted over at PR, but everyone's favourite multi has gone to the great rugby comments section in the sky.

I never interacted with QP on Planet Rugby, but to say he was a legend of the forum would be an understatement. I always thought he was around my age, so that would mean he was quite young when he passed away. Sad.

Dogfaced Bisexual....goooooooo goooooo gaaaaaaaaa Repeat ad infinitum.
To be fair to the bloke, he may have had some issues, but he knew his rugby pretty well.

What was his username?

Was he posting anywhere recently?
Remember he would turn up in random rugby forums and 'below the article' comments sections and you could recognise him straight away.

Well he was a Kiwi and in his "serious" persona would openly admit it. But in his "loon" persona he would totally deny it.

I was an intermittent visitor to PR before and during his reign of terror, while I always think that the loons tend to liven up a bored he was more of a PITA than most.
That said, as AC pointed out he was a legend of the bored and it's sad when anyone dies. RIP QP
That's if he really is dead - it wouldn't be the first time a troll has tried that one
Have to say, it has crossed my mind that he will show up in Hanoi or something over the next few months.
Yep, I don;t quite believe it.
There is a part of me that wants to think all those Facebook tributes are his multis
They do all have a certain style. Perhaps a rope a dope to escape his tormentors and stalkers at PR?

The fact that there's so much scepticism on display on this thread speaks volumes about the reputation of the (allegedly) deceased - sadly.

Read somewhere that we are all essentially a pack of needy creatures and facing rejection and humiliation from groups absolutely devastates people for decades, and even considerably lowers their I.Q.
So you want to really really hurt someone, dehumanise them, laugh at them or reject them from a group setting or forum.
I mean they deserve it, as they annoyed you slightly.
RIP Quentin.

I see on PR that he wrote a book with a one star review on Amazon based on two reviews and one of the reviewers was purporting to be Rowan Quinn.
RIP to him . Lost a relative myself to suicide in July .
I didnt know who he was but have trawled through the threads on here and PR. Seems to have been an articulate but troubled guy.

Quentin went well beyond annoying people and actively harassed public figures. Svaran (also RIP) once told me the NZ police would've wanted a long chat with QP had he ever returned to NZ.
He wasn't a nice man and was clearly not well. It's still a shame he never got the help he needed.
Look chubbier than photos from a few years earlier. Probably depressed. RIP

And yet if those FB tributes are genuine and heartfelt perhaps there was a side to him we didn't and couldn't know away from the internet. I'll never know the truth behind his past, but if you questioned him too hard about his favourite bugbears either in rugby or in global matters such as the Middle East he did boil over quite quickly. And whether some of the RQ posts attributed to him were by his hand and not imposters out to stir I can't tell but if by him they hardly seem to be from a mind not in full control of itself. He certainly made a total menace of himself on numerous forums (and I know for a fact from moderating on one that many posts came from Turkish IP addresses so were most likely his - in fact at one point briefly the forum admin had to bar ALL Turkey domain IPs LOL).
Still, RIP....

I don't know about Quinten really, I have no feelings except it's sad when anyone dies and however annoying and dickheaded he was in his troll days on PR, it does feel like a bit of PR died with him. He did manage to make himself the definitive enemy of PR back in the mid-2000's and I don't think anyone has ever topped that reputation he earned, so much so he's referenced 15 years later.

Like you never interacted with him on any forums, not even sure I know of any of his posts, but did know him way back when he was a sports reporter in Levin, and while I would never claim to be friend or anything I find it always q bit sad when someone a fair bit younger than me passes away.

Rest in peace Quentin.
Speaking of which, Rowan Q**nn will have her best night's sleep in years tonight.
Come on, that’s going too far.
I think you underestimate his obsession with Rowan. I was at journo school in 2003 (the same one RQ had attended a few years earlier). I'd just rejoined the bored in its latest form and naturally QP accused me of being RQ. Rather naively, I said I wasn't her and explained she was working at the Southland Times while I was a mere student, not realising he was a psycho who was subject to a restraining order.
Later that day my tutor asked to speak to me in private and said one of the Quinns (or a friend) had seen this and mentioned it to RQ, who had contacted my tutor (who was her former tutor too), asking me to delete the reference and avoid any further reference to where RQ was working.
Hopefully the thought he was unlikely to return to NZ set RQ's mind at ease a long time ago, but I'm sure once she hears of his death, there'll be some relief.

Yet you still do this sort of thing. Dropping hints, showing you are 'in the know'. Always chipping away at anonymity and pseudo-anonymity.

I am "in the know" on many things - despite a shocking effort at tertiary study, I've somehow found myself in some fun and interesting jobs with some of NZ's movers and shakers - let's blame it on white privilege and sheer serendipitous timing.
