Lacrosse Ireland have surrendered their slot in The World Games 2022 men’s lacrosse tournament with the explicit intention of clearing a path for the Iroquois Nationals (representing the Haudenosaunee Confederacy) to participate at The World Games in the sport their ancestors were the first to play.

When you gave up the top spot in RWC 2019 to allow Japan to take it, you were roundly congratulated.
When you allowed NZ to take your semi spot you were roundly condemned.

Its important to do it for the right reasons.

Is this meant to make up for the IRFU deeming its female players not attractive enough to wear the new season's garb in advertising, replacing them with models? Whilst the men were shown loud and proud?

I came across some ads for the mens shirts. I've no idea who it was that was wearing them, but was left with a very strong sense of virtue signalling.

No that's an entirely separate issue and the irfu are to be commended for their thoughtfulness.

What was the point of dropping them in the first place? I've never followed lacrosse closely, but from Native friends who played always got the impression these teams finished top three or thereabouts in the world.

Is lacrosse trying to kiss up to the IOC to get the sport in? Sevens didn't do that for the series, just brought together GB for the Olympics. Assuming Iroquois Nationals players would just be eligible for Can or US if that was ever going to happen ... though I doubt it'd ever become an Olympic sport.
