At least two people have been stabbed to death in the Canadian city of Quebec by a man armed with a sword and dressed in medieval clothing, police say.
Five other people were wounded. A man in his mid-20s was arrested shortly before 01:00 local time (05:00 GMT), officers said.
Police have advised residents to stay inside with doors locked as an investigation is under way.
The attack took place in the historic Old Quebec neighbourhood.
First reports of the incident near Parliament Hill came through shortly before 22:30 local time.
After his arrest near the Espace 400e business park, the man was taken to hospital. The five wounded are also being treated in hospital.
Reporters at the scene have tweeted photos of a police command post outside Quebec's Parliament Building.

Strange lack of concern about this incident... oh wait...
Police said an initial probe found the suspect was not affiliated with any extremist groups.
I guess it's another one of those mentally ill lone wolf types. So it's not noteworthy. Seems to have dropped rather quickly off the BBC news cycle too.

Well, to be fair stabbings are commonplace in London these days - there was a stabbing in Wandsworth this past week that claimed the life of a 15 year old boy and one last night in Kilburn. They garner modest amounts of attention and media coverage.

London has had over 100 stabbings resulting in death this year. You’ve posted none of them. What’s Quebec to you?

You spend an awful lot of time presupposing what I should say or do, that's the 3rd time this week alone you've taken issue with me not doing things you imagine I should.

Oh, I question the motives of your selected things that you think are important , they’re normally posted with your agenda blazoned across them, it takes little time presupposing the agenda , motives etc.
I like exposing this.

Why would you consider a stabbing 1,000’s of miles from your home important but the weekly deaths just down the road unimportant...?
Indeed a twisted agenda rather than any actual concerns about the event posted, as I said I enjoy exposing your twisted points.

Where have I said London stabbings are unimportant?
That would be like me accusing you of thinking thousands of COVID deaths this week are unimportant because you've not directly said anything about it...
That's now the 4th time you've supposed what I should be doing.

No, no, you’re fine . Really really interesting stabbing in Quebec.
I’m also not supposing or telling you anything , I’m pointing out that you’re either illogical or you’ve painted you’re actual agenda out loud again.
We get it. You’re really “good” and other posters are really “bad.”

I provide an example, using your own premise, of just how stupid your "unimportant" deaths statement was.
I'm glad you realise how stupid that was, oh wait, no you didn't

I commented on the covid deaths though, your example wasn’t true.
You’re getting screechy now, but I will happily expose your horrible agenda driven threads when I feel like it.

2 stories, days apart, very similar, but for 1 important fact, the religion of the perpetrator(s).
Yup that's my "Horrible Agenda" = pointing out the hypocrisy and transparent faux outrage.

The London stabbings 'just down the road" prove my point, where they being perpetrated in the name of religion there'd be much said posted & about it too.
The first I'd heard of the most recent one mentioned above was in this thread. It wasn't on the front page of the BBC, on my local *Surrey* News site or trending on twitter...

Yep, so you wanted to make the point we should all be treating all stabbings the same and if not we are dreadful bigots. We get it you’ve a horrible agenda.

Looking at the surnames of the two victims and the perpetrator it looks like they were all three French-Canadians.
