Bonkers Qualifying so far in Barcelona.

Going into Q3, we've one Ferrari, one Merc, & one RB out, but by some miracle both McLarens are into Q3 :wtf

I quite liked the track.

But still a bit of a procession, and not many dogfights.

American street tracks are very hit and miss, I'm not looking forward to the Nascar street race in Chicago

I may just give up watching the F1 circus, & switch to sportscars entirely, with the introduction of the LMH Class
Ferrari are really the champions of breaking hearts.

It's not only gorgeous, but it's also fast; they've locked out the front row in LeMans !

I just know the fucking engine is going to grenade with a few laps to go or something

Toyota are crying foul over the BOP rules. I still think Toyota will still be faster than Ferrari over the course of the race though.

Because the lap is so long, they divide it into I think 9 zones, & when there are marshals on the course they implement an 80 kph in that zone of the lap, but let them race on the other 8x zones. It saves on safety cars which are a PITA on such a long lap

No sooner do they clear one zone, than another crash happens

Still it shows how incredibly robust that cars are that they can lose a corner & worse, & still make their way back to the pits

Uh Oh, more rain coming in

Nice stat; 16x lead changes so far, & last year there was a grand total of 21x the entire race.

I'd say the rule changes are working.

Half the race has been run in 2nd gear. That’s not exciting.

Well the choice is either have yellows, slow zones & safety cars; or end up as a demolition derby, where whoever lasts the longest wins !

They put 24hrs on the ticket so they have to try & get a few of them around that long

I think he just had a really short stint & they were incredibly lucky, as I think he did a full 360 when he was the first car to hit the rain, but he was right by the pits, so he came in & put one of the pros back in with wet tyres

Looks like we're down to one Toyoda, with #7 out after a collision between multiple cars slowing down for a slow zone.

I was dipping in and out of the coverage of Le Mans yesterday and I have yet to see any of the race that wasn't under yellow.

I have just got up and switched on. Guess what - Full Course Yellow.

FFS.

Ferrari got thru handily enough, & is the faster car, but it lost a minute at the last pit stop because it didn't restart on the button.

The Ferrari might be in the lead, but the Toyota gets the advantage of him waking up the back markers, so he gets the cleaner passage thru them.
