Re: RWC R2 Scotland v Tonga 24/9

How is that not just a straight red, about as clear cut as they get I read elsewhere that barring an obvious punch/gouge etc, refs have been directed to use the bunker. Saw it mentioned and doubted it, but the person saying it was pretty sure. I haven't seen the official guidelines to that effect, ...

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Thought there were quite a few loose offloads and general play by the pack yesterday, which isn't typical of the team at their best.
Hopefully they get a bit of a mental break and shakeup over the next few weeks and tighten up those bits for the semi.

Everyone's so wound up about the try. I was surprised it was given.

It wasn't the winning of the match, though. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Seems to be a lot of buthurt Welsh fans about the Lowe try.
I was amazed that it was given, but can understand it on the basis of the question asked/on-field decision.

It had no impact on the result, and we we done by a bad non-decision ourselves, so meh.

Re: The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Murray was good in the first half. In the second, because he was slower to the rucks, he reverted to his up and unders, which were either too short or too long, and essentially just gave possession back to the French to run back hard at us. If JGP is OK in two weeks we'll revert to starting with hi...

Re: Ireland v France match thread

Awesome game to watch. Super 3rd quarter. Pretty average second half tbh. Game ruined by Barnes. However well deserved win which would have been much more of the red was given. Maybe not in terms of pure quality rugby, but riding out the french attacks, restricting them to a drop goal, and then pla...

We need to stop going so many pick and go phases on their line.
Just need a 10m pass out beyond their stacked forwards and we're in. McCloskey was in there if we'd passed right a few phases before Murray dropped it.

Talking of obsolete. When I was in the OTC at school in the early 1970s we had an armoury with 150 Lee Enfields and a lot of .303 ammunition. We also has two Brens and ammo for them. Abbedan's Gate has a pretty decent climax, IMO. Takes a bit of time to move the pieces into place though. Cibola Burn is probably the most stand-alone of all the novels, and more different in feel, IMO. Probably has a tighter cast and story, though.

Amos has a class story arc this season, so it should be good. Really enjoying Wes Chatham's version of the character. Much more substance to work with as the seasons progress as his character gets more detail on top of the simple psycho that he appears to be early on.
