Off to the sunset he goes.
2 Grand Slams
4 Six Nations
4 Heineken Cup medals
6 pro12/14
1 Challenge cup
With 95 Ireland caps, 5 lions caps, 219 Leinster caps, 2 Lions tours
What a career and Ireland's struggles to replace him tell their own story.

Must be the most decorated limited player of all time.

Easy to say but we can't seem to get another player capable of catching a high ball!

I'm not surprised players fucked up their chances when they knew that any mistake was an excuse for Joe to shove Rob back in.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 6:31 pm Easy to say but we can't seem to get another player capable of catching a high ball!

It's a pretty weak selection across all the provinces right now. The only lad who could conceivably have done a job fecked off to France.
I rewatched the 2009 Lions Series. He was just phenomenal under the two million bombs we sent his way. Player of the Series.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 6:31 pm Easy to say but we can't seem to get another player capable of catching a high ball!

What was his record like when the big boys were involved? Zero World Cups so another mildly above average player from the North.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 6:26 pm Off to the sunset he goes.

The bar is not high is it lads
It’s only this Green light person doing that. Just arrived and started being a cock
All the money you made will never buy back your soul
Yeah but he's not "Irish" enough for Hellraiser though is he? So I'm not sure who he would have wanted in his place.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 6:51 pm It's a pretty weak selection across all the provinces right now. The only lad who could conceivably have done a job fecked off to France.
FWIW, I'd love to see Conway get time at fullback for Munster with an eye to him taking the green shirt, but its probably unlikely with Haley, Gallagher there and now Daly coming through.

He's not gone, although given his one on one defence you could be forgiven for thinking he was. He's just, ahem, adjusting his feet, to, eeeehhh, make the dummy-buying that bit more convincing.
Legend under a high ball. The best blindside flanker never to wear a six shirt in all other situations.
But a legend under a high ball indeed.

Strange, I was under the impression a few years ago that Irish sports tended to create rugby athletes who are great under the high ball. Is this possibly an unintended outcome of the more professional and focused pathways for developing players? Now they focus more purely on rugby in their devloping years is it possible the skills they gained from other Irish sports (GAA? Galic football?) are being eroded?Uncle fester wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 6:31 pm Easy to say but we can't seem to get another player capable of catching a high ball!
Never my favorite player (while you always want a dependable player at the back, I think you also want a bit more than just dependability) there is no arguing that he has a pretty impressive record. 15 years for the same team is pretty special these days.
You wash your fücking mouths out. Rob was a man, a scholar and a saint. No Rob was a legend, a saint, a scholar and a bard. Close. Realistically Rob was something mystical that words cannot properly encapsulate AND I heard he rode like the clappers. We won't see a face as beautiful as his again. Goodnight sweet prince.

Listen to you guys, the bigging up of bog average players as Kearney goes directly as to why the North has won one RWC out of nine. One out of nine for fucksake. Decent people would hang their heads in shame. Not you lot though. Palpable delusion.redderneck wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 7:40 pm He's not gone, although given his one on one defence you could be forgiven for thinking he was. And for the record, Kearney was not fit to lace Israel Folau boots when it comes to the high ball.
Kearney bog average player representing a bog average rugby nation. Keep stroking each other though. Suppose that's all you've got really
At least he didn't condemn gay people to the fires of hellGreen light echo wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 1:11 amListen to you guys, the bigging up of bog average players as Kearney goes directly as to why the North has won one RWC out of nine. So to be clear, you concede that Kearney isn't fit to lace Izzys boots when it comes to the high ball?ASMO wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 12:05 pmAt least he didn't condemn gay people to the fires of hellGreen light echo wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 1:11 amListen to you guys, the bigging up of bog average players as Kearney goes directly as to why the North has won one RWC out of nine. I would definately agree that Izzy was probably the best in the world under the high ball, but you could then argue that Kearney was a far better overall defender then Izzy was, it is swings and roundabouts.Green light echo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 7:37 amSo to be clear, you concede that Kearney isn't fit to lace Izzys boots when it comes to the high ball?ASMO wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 12:05 pmAt least he didn't condemn gay people to the fires of hellGreen light echo wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 1:11 am

Perhaps not but he was the best ever under the high ball.
Ever.
Ever.
