When this thread started it gave me the motivation to do something about my weight
I have gone from 118kg down to 106kg by increasing exercise & cutting out carbs
Also whomever mentioned eating the 4 almonds to stave off hunger pangs- that really works for me.
It surprised me that a few almonds eaten slowly can do that. I was told five, but if four also works , then good.

Second gym session done yesterday, not nearly as stiff today as I was the day after my first session! Did circuit 2 which is:

- 15 mins cardio on x-trainer
- TRX - lunges, squats and side squats 10x3 of each
- Cable pull high to low 12.5kg 3x10
- Lying bench knees up 3x15
- Swiss ball crunches and bridges 2x20 each
- Seated chest press 30kg 3x15
- Single arm dumbbell rows 3x18kg each arm
- Lat pull downs close/wide/close 40kg 3x15
- 21s x 3

Golf today and gym tomorrow as weather forecast is shite! 3 sessions for first week back with lower weights seems to be ok. Aim is to get back to 4 sessions a week and to get weights I'm lifting back up to pre lock down levels, probably take me a month or so. Still walking/golfing and maintaining the 10k steps a day average. After 4 months of walking it is just routine now.

For me having two shorter runs daily seemed to keep the metabolism higher throughout the day than just one. I know it really improved my recovery time for serious competition, but besides that I ate more than the extra exercise should have allowed without ill weight effects. So instead of one run of six miles, I would do two of only four. Very hard for a couple of weeks.

Only anecdotal of course.

17 stone 11 lbs this morning. Going to have to buy those 36" waist jeans soon. Threw a bucketload of clothes out of the wardrobe this weekend

Thankfully I don't need to wear a suit at the moment as none of them fit - they look like tents on me

Losing weight can be bloody expensive. I shifted about 4 stones and shrank 3 neck sizes and 4" on the waist when I was working and had to buy a complete new wardrobe!!!!

Lockdown has been a lifesaver for that - have been able to get a way with a lot of very ill fitting clothing

I've been forcing myself to get up 30 minutes earlier than normal and use that time to do yoga before breakfast. I don't need to lose a lot of weight as I'm in generally decent nick, but I just the wrong side of 30 now and since Easter I've been straining at the waistband of my jeans a bit in a way I'm not used to and find most unwelcome. Best nip it in the bud before it becomes a problem and I don't want the expense of having to buy any new bigger clothes (opposite problem those of you above are having!).

Remember, when disposing of clothes you can either give them to charities or straight up recycle them. Lots of places have textiles/fabric recycling bins now.

Some great results guys - well done! Along with the weight loss and fitness improvements don't underestimate the mental health benefits of eating well and exercising more. Getting out in the fresh air and hopefully some sun, building up Vitamin D works wonders. Get your mates involved, working in pairs or more is a great motivator.

I'm still managing to exercise every day. Maintaining about 11-12k steps a day, mostly through playing lots of golf. According to my iPhone/iWatch I have walked just under 1,700,000 steps since the 1st January and I am on target to hit the 2 million mark by mid June. I'm also going to the gym, now it's open, 3-4 times a week. My weight loss has slowed, I think because I'm doing lots of weights in the gym and adding muscle bulk again, but waistline is certainly getting smaller and I am feeling so much fitter. I have also noticed my arthritic knee pain is much reduced, probably due to bulking up leg muscles, and I'm hitting the ball further and straighter in golf, probably due to better core strength? More determined than ever to keep going.

It is a self fulfilling prophecy, the more you do it, the more positive results you get making you want to do it more, just dont become obsessed.

Ashamed to admit it but I've plateaud recently, motivation has become 'manana'. I blame the sh1te weather and loss of access to my usual walks/activities. Thinking of bike or maybe an exercise bike. I definitely need something to up my calorie use and get me away from easy access to the kitchen. I'm stuck at the 81-82kg mark. All my recent health checks are OK and the Stroke people have discharged me. I want to get down below 75 kg but I'm really struggling at the moment.

Yeah - I have an Oura Ring and the app keeps reminding me I need to have an occasional more "relaxed" day with much less high intensity workouts/training

Visiting the parents this weekend, first since Christmas. Saw their bathroom scales and remembered it was the last time I checked.

Was about 210lbs then, now 192lbs!

When I met Enz et al back in 2007, I was about 100lbs heavier! Less and better food, more movement.

My weight loss has stalled a bit but it must be because I'm back in the gym these last 4-5 weeks and reduced walking etc. Feel like I have put on a bit of muscle again but waist size still same. Still golfing, gym'ing or walking every day, it has become a habit now. Need to get back to a stricter diet control, socialising a bit more has meant its slipped a bit.

I've noticed before that the actual weight loss happens in waves, followed by a bit of a stabilisation period. Since the start of the year I've lost nearly a stone and a half, but through the whole of April my weight barely changed at all.

I'm the best part of 20 stone (for context I was 15 stone when I played rugby) and after feeling like crap (sluggish, lethargic) all day Friday decided enough was enough, I've got to shed some of that weight and change my diet and lifestyle.

I haven't smoked or drunk since my late 20s so stuffing my face has been my one vice/indulgence for the past decade but I am honestly sick of eating crap then having bursts of energy followed by crashing.

I've tried to diet before but been too drastic and then given up after a few weeks (I cut meat out of my diet for the first 2-3 weeks of the COVID lockdown) so I am just going to aim for smaller portion sizes and eradicating any fast food and then go from there. Looks like this thread will be great resource.

Attack it from both ends, calorie count (given your weight i would say try to restrict yourself to 2000 cal a day) and get out and walk, try to do at least 5 k a day at a decent pace, gradually increase distance and pace. Allow yourself 12 months to get yourself back to about 15 stone.

14 stone I think.
As a carer, I am too busy to exercise, completely knackered after (and before) work.
Used to love running in a previous life.
I walk about 7 to 10 miles a day (depending on emergencies etc) in big heavy boots, up steep inclines, that sometimes really f'ck me up.
I wear them because I walk so much, that I wear through shoes at an incredible (unaffordable ) rate, and these have a 6 month guarantee, so if I wear them out before then, I get a free pair, just in time for the Winter.
My dad calls them my Diving boots because they weigh the same as oldie world diving boots.
They cause me buttock, leg muscle and even foot pain together with some serious fatigue.

Really need to sort out my diet though.
Want to get down to 13 stone.

Jesus, you really do everything to make your life miserable. Why not go all the way and put a piano on your back each morning?

Although I know you’re lying because you said less than 2 years ago that you run up and down the local hills all the time.

Thanks ASMO - will defintely try & diversify my approach.

This week I haven't been overly ambitious in terms of calorie counting and meal prepping.
I just eradicated the crisps, chocolate, sweets and sugary drinks from my diet which is a big deal because I usually snack on that rubbish all the time.

I'm planning on seeing if any weight has dropped off tomorrow - one thing I do know I feel a lot, lot better and its only been six days.

Use something like MyFitnessPal app - it is free - to keep a record of what you eat - it gives you a good analysis of calories and mix of protein, fat and carbs. You don't need to keep doing it but try it seriously for a couple of weeks to let you see what you are actually consuming and where the extra calories are coming from. It is amazing how many folk think they are eating well without realising what they are actually consuming.

Very much this, i use it and its great, even better is the fact that it integrates with my Garmin app as well so i see the calorie burn and consumed all in one place.

Just back from the gym. I'm stuck resolutely on 99kgs. I can't seem to lose any more weight. I started out at 113kgs and through running and watching what I eat I shifted 14kgs in about 4 months - that was 4 months ago!

I'm still doing lots of exercise and mixing it up too, did HIIT running/rowing and skipping this morning, average HR is way into the 150s so I'm definitely working hard!

It must be my diet. I don't eat anything like as much bread at I used to but I do love to eat rice mixed up with spices, beans, meat and all sorts. Roll them in a wrap for a burrito too. Bloody lovely and done wonders for the quality of my farts as an added bonus!

I'll have to try the almond tip although I know what I'm like, I'll likely grab a handful and eat them all in one go.

It is almost certainly food, use Myfitnesspal to track what you are eating, undoubtedly you will find your answer there
