I’m not a great fan of CDG but damn, the bowlers (him aside) were outstanding this morning.

The other 9% went to Taylor.

Jamieson, Wagner and Southee certainly were, but Boult, while improved on yesterday, still looks short of a gallop. Not attacking the crease like he can and tending to put the ball there rather than bowling it.

Thought he was fine. Not quite his usual. And his stats also looked good (compared to Southee).

In fact that should have been 3 wickets for Boult, had Southee not dropped that sitter.

Such a shame that this is going to be a weather draw.

The cricket that we have had has been high quality, tense and absolutely enthralling.

But does the ECB want anyone else to enjoy cricket.....no.....they just dial in the rain and ruin it for everyone.

Well, the next couple of days are looking ok. So we should get 4 full days.

But like I said earlier. It’s England again screwing us with a draw.

Great comment on cricinfo, especially the last sentence.
"Madness! Last time it was the rules (and maybe the umpires), this time it's rain! How can this NZ team expect to get rewards for their efforts when everything is against them? Ban England from hosting ICC events, I say!" There there, Matthew. Be like Kane. You know he'll just shrug and smile and say something magnanimous, whatever happens

That's what I said — not quite at his best. Southee may have had worse figures, but he bowled far better, which is the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Also very unusual for Southee to drop one. Taylor's usually the culprit there.

Southee dropped Burns on 60* and the guy more than doubled his score at Lords last month. Cost NZ the win.

Harsh, more than 100 overs were lost to the weather, and England's tardy run rate.

On the plus side, Southee and co keep creating so many chances that the odd dropped chance hasn't been costing us matches.

So cold and windy, wet outfield.

Feel like this is a swing/seam bowlers advantage? Not so great for the spinners.

Batting should be a bit tricky.

It is tough batting with heaps of maiden overs.

That sand pile that Bumrah patted at the beginning of the over... Its directly behind the stumps but if a pitch hit landed on it, would that be 5 runs?

Yeah, right....
It’s possible. There’s no time being lost fetching the ball from anywhere other than the keepers gloves or two feet in front of the batsmen.

Time being lost now for Nichols to replace Taylor out to a superb catch by Gill
