Well done, Keewees. Very well deserved.

- Top ranked test side.
- Top ranked in ODIs.
- Third in T20.
It’s like stumbling into a parallel cricketing universe.
Though in this universe unfortunately we have Foster as head coach for the ABs in rugby. So …
Should be countered by the number of Crusaders in the team, no?Ymx wrote: Wed Jun 23, 2021 7:11 pm

Had a 1-hour nap at lunchtime and second ball on returning was Jadeja's dismissal. Stayed to the glorious end after that, so today has been a slow one. A few random observations:
• batting conditions were a lot friendlier today, so it was a surprise how quickly India capitulated in their 2nd dig — big shout-out to Southee and Jamieson in particular;
• when fielding in slips, Taylor and Southee seemed to have done a body swap;
• why again was it NZ picked CdG instead of Patel?
• surprising that Ashwin didn't bowl in the last hour — assume it had something to do with wanting Jadeja to bowl to the right-handers, but still a bit odd given how threatening he looked;
• the old dog Taylor can still bat a bit when it's needed.

Yeah I'm with you, de Grandhomme's been unimpressive since his return from such a long injury break. He's not scoring runs and he's not taking wickets. Now that another strong keeper/batsman in Blundell will be at no.6, I wonder if we can dispense with an average all-rounder at 7, consistently pick another specialist bowler whether spin or pace, and promote Jamieson up the order. I reckon he could start stringing some handy scores together given more time in the middle.Certain Navigator wrote: Thu Jun 24, 2021 6:09 am • why again was it NZ picked CdG instead of Patel?
Kohli should be fine
(To continue the pile on)
India captain Virat Kohli says World Test Championship final vs New Zealand is 'just another Test match'
”It is not going to reflect anything for people who really understand the game"; India take on New Zealand in the World Test Championship final but Virat Kohli dismissed the idea that it decides the best team in the world; watch from 10am, Friday on Sky Sports Cricket
"If you're talking about Test cricket and deciding who is the best team in the world on one game over a period of five days, that is not the reality of the truth," he said.
"It is not going to reflect anything for people who really understand the game and who know exactly what has gone on over the last four or five years and how the teams have fared. If you win this game, cricket does not stop for us; if you lose this game, cricket does not stop for us.
"For me, this is another Test match that has to be played. I think these things are very exciting from the outside... it sort of becomes 'do or die'. For us as a team, we have been on a quest for excellence for a while now and we will continue to be on that path regardless of what happens in this game."
