What a game.

Hard to understate how much those four Saffers have improved at Quins. I know they're all out of the Bok picture, but they have all had outstanding seasons. With a surname like Green, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets called up by England or someone else due to a distant British relative. Louw must be one of the best tightheads in Europe. Take away AE's two red cards and he's easily the best 12 in the premiership. And Lewies will do down as a premiership winning captain.

Just shows what proper coaching and management can do.

AE is combining his brute strength 💪 (Hi Sards) with some skill that he never showed when playing for $harks.

Lewies is such an improved player.

It goes to show how crap our set up in South Africa is.

I was surprised with the Quins scrum with the English Viking on LH and Wilco at TH going backwards. The Gray lock from Exeter is a great player. Can't believe he did not made the Lions squad.

AE and Green was uitstekend. Green is such a talent.

I rememeber him being ok for the Lions but not much more. Never thought I'd see him putting in cup final-winning performances like he has done recently. Small guy, big heart.

Also a shoutout to Jason Jenkins. Great game (and season) from him, his pass to put Hogg away in the final 10 was class.

I rate him highly. He has a huge heart and loads of skill and reads the game properly. Not just following your instincts. He went abroad because he was going nowhere in South Africa.

Our set up is a real concern.
Without having played the Kiwis we have absolutely no clue where we stand

Forgot about him. We have a ridiculous conveyor belt of top locks in this country. Probably has something to do with the headboy marrying the Netball captain at Afrikaans schools.
I had coffee at Neelsie, the refectory at Stellenbosch University, with my daughter the other day. The size of these kids is crazy. The girls are huge too.

Don Armand also from these parts. Zimbabwean who went to Maritzburg College. Dave Ewers also a Zimbo.

Correct. Pity they never got to wear the green and white hoops. Quite a few Saffas and Zimbos playing in the Championship too.

Green is not English qualified and will only get there on residency. Since Kolbe has already proved that you can have small wings in modern rugby, I think he can have a future with the Boks.

He's had and excellent season for Exeter even though he missed a few matches with injury

He was a great buy for Exeter. Incredibly hardworking, a workhorse that every championship team needs. Another example of an incredibly talented Saffer that is nowhere near the Bok picture.

Yep! He and Ewers together in the backrow are a huge engines. With the speedy Simmonds in between them at 8 it all works very well

Bernard Janse van Rensburg has signed for London Irish.

Any good? Looks handy in a highlights video, but then, doesn't everyone.

The Sharks poach all the quality Cheetah players. The rest are either young just out of Varsity Cup or has beens from Japan/UK/France players.

He always looked destined for higher honours, but never quite made it in SA.

He's a good signing, with the right coaching and management he'll thrive at London Irish.

I think the word you were looking for is pay.....not poach

As in....The Sharks pay all the quality Cheetahs players......that play for them.

I understand it's a difficult concept to wrap your mind around when you are a Namaqualander that grew up on the weekly bottle of wine for your labor

On Tyrone Green it's been really obvious in the last few matches that he's worked on fighting through the tackle. He got bullied a bit by Nadolo and company against Tigers, but since then he's been almost impossible to stop for the first man and frequently just bullied his own way through multiple bigger men. I was really worried he'd be another Tim Swiel type - i.e. the "utility" back who's not good enough for any one particular position - but his attitude is phenomenal.

He misses a lot of tackles but you can never doubt his commitment.

Lewies I think wasn't quite at his top standard and I don't think he was fully fit, but he did enough.

He seemed to struggle a lot with injury this season.

Very happy for him. When he left SA I never would have put him down as a premiership winning captain.

Yeah we didn't know what to expect, but at times he's been a big damn hero for Quins, some all-action displays. Hopefully he can stay fit - being captain for the Gustard times must have been a real drain and it sounds like the players were getting flogged in training, too. We've moved to a much less insane training regime so hopefully more players can stay fit for longer.

Surprised Oom thought the Quins scrum was going backwards, it was a real weapon against Exeter! Louw is phenomenal and a former international tighthead told me just how insane he thought that try was  We've had some pretty mediocre signings over the years, and have had little luck from SA (Andre Vos aside) so I'm glad these guys have worked out so well. Good on them for really buying into Quins 2.0 too.

Louw is a total freak. Wiki has him down as 126kg but he looks closer to 140.

AE is miles ahead of Frans these days and should be in the Bok squad. Wilco is a ridiculous omission too.

As an Edinburgh fan I was disappointed that he left to go Worcester, I thought we'd done right by him in taking him on after he failed his medical and got him fixed up and back on the field. As far as I can gather that was down to the Edinburgh coach Richard Cockerill.

He is a destructive runner and is a huge talent, and of course I wish him well, but there is just a little bit of a sour taste, Edinburgh made him a good offer to stay and I would understand if he had gone to one of the powerhouses of European rugby, but no, he went to a side that has escaped relegation by dint of there not being any this year and probably not next year too.

The school photo of him in his Kwagga (Outeniqua HS) jersey was against Paarl Gym in George. I walk the line in that one. He scored a fantastic try and the Kwaggas beat Paarl Gym for the first time. That's where I spot his and Warrick Gelant talent and knew they will be special in the future.
