I don't hate it, as long as the refs are sharp on entry and collapsing once it's a maul, which is why I prefer they clearly call it.

Thing is though, if the ball could be easily played the ref should make sure it is. If there's a proper pile then I have no issue

I'd be fine with that. But yes, I'd expect refs to know key words in Spanish, Italian and Japanese now. Given these teams are at the top table.

France is a much more important rugby nation than the others, and unlike the others a player can come into the French set up never having needed to understand English in a rugby context.
The universal command word is fine, but there's no doubt France get on the wrong side of refs who communicate more widely with the opposition than they are able to.

Feel they're being ridden a little by the ref here today, on topic.

Morocco never had the chance as their Federation is a total shitcart that can't get their house in order wrt corruption and maladministration. This leaves Algeria as the north's only representatives in their pool with Uganda and Ghana.
