Love your work Zapp!
Speaking of posters who are goooooone, PR lost a couple of long serving posters with the perma-flounce of both Shanky and Mungo Man.
Shanky threw out a kamikaze flounce bet based on Australia beating the All Blacks at Eden Park. No one took up the challenge but he chose not to pull up anyway.
Mungo went in sympathy by the looks. Something about spending too much time on there.

That's slightly down from the figures I got a few days ago, but 391 people viewing is not insignificant.n total there are 391 users online :: 14 registered, 1 hidden and 376 guests
Even is Sandy's suggestion that they are all bots is true, that [mis]information is going somewhere.
MungoMan is still consistently posting.Jimmy Smallsteps wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 12:24 pm Love your work Zapp!

I still think that falsehoods and misrepresentations should be challenged.
Up all night, frantically messaging, trying to be part of a pile on.
Am playing the long game, this is a hobby for me, doesnt take much effort to run if you set it up right in the first place, i am not looking to monetise, so no ads...not ever, people still come here, might be small numbers but it is a very decent community with little or no toxicity, i will take that over high traffic any day.de_Selby wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 10:02 amI mainly post on PR but have I'm losing patience recently because of all the obvious reasons. TBH I think both places are going to die soon.
There is no traffic here, and the trolls and wierdos are slowly driving any decent posters away from PR. A good few have been lost in the past year. I don't think ignoring helps either - every second post is just "Dozy/DAC/Bimbo/etc/etc is on your ignore list show this post" and It doesn't hide threads or quoted posts.
This split is another factor that is killing it. Lots of decent posters came here which has sucked the life away. And no new posters are going to ever find this place (or the old place anyway, I'm surprised there is still a link to it on the main site)
Forums have had their day, we are going to be stuck with reddit and shit which are just low attention span groupthink bubbles with no real discussion.

I started posting on PR around 2005, after I spent 5 years working a telephone helpline, and being super nice, kind and respectful to people.
Really making a difference to quite desperate peoples lives in a positive way.
I was burnt out, sure, it burns you out.. but I was super friendly and engaging.
I even got on well with DAC. We disagreed, but I didn't ever feel hatred and contempt.
I was part of the world, the country was pulling together, I felt Britain was great and the PR community were fine.
The most people had to say about UK politics was Fatman going on about Harriet Harmon, for some obscure laughable, pathetic reason.
Tories were generally of the kind, patriarch kind, full of useful information etc like theo.
Then the 2008 economc crash happened and half the country fucking hated me (for being unemployed) overnight.
Every sickenning narrative about the unemployed came my way. Fatman (who went to Tory meetings) used to warn me about what was coming.
The self serving contempt half the country had for the poor, sick and unemployed was just disgusting, even for someone like me who just put in 5 years of unpaid public service, and was creating and supporting database systems weekly for other voluntary orgs.
But I fought my corner admirably, in this changed angry world, until one day the angry people, having lost the arguements by making it personal(forcing me to post genuine, glowing verified references, after years of them calling me lazy) decided on mass that I was a wind up merchant. A troll,
Instead of, you know apologising, the dehumanisation of me was so stark at that point, there is no way that was going to happen.
So to prove I wasn't a troll, meant I would have to give to reveal my identity.
So I was cancelled.
Planet rugby was a dangerous dark place to me, full of dangerous and dark people, and still is.
But so is the UK now.
PR is truly reflective of the UK now, which is a good thing as if it was like this in 2005 when I started posting there, I wouldn't have stuck around for a day.
So remember, it is a good thing now that the unemployed, the sick, the underclass, working class people and women and carers no longer post there.
They will just get dehumanised, seriously hurt and then contemptuously spat out.

Rinkhals reminds me of that crazy old pensioner sitting on his porch yelling "get off the lawn" at kids walking on the pavement. I get that you think you're doing this noble service protecting the interwebz community from the loons but it's a bit insulting. Do you think we are not intelligent or mature enough to spot a loon and decide for ourselves if he is a loon or not?
In short, I get that you mow it and keep it clean but the lawn on the pavement does not belong to you and it's there so that pedestrians don't need to walk in the street.

If you want it to look nice, do your bit and pick up the rubbish instead of putting it on ignore.
Presumably no-one held a gun to your head and forced you to continue posting on PR for years after the terrible events you've described.Line6 HXFX wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 6:20 am I started posting on PR around 2005, after I spent 5 years working a telephone helpline, and being super nice, kind and respectful to people.

Did you ever consider, you know, simply disengaging?
There are some fruitcakes over there i must admit, but i also had some great time there too, just a shame the lunatics have taken over the assylum. Met loads of folk off the the old board and to a person they were fun to be around, played tit cricket with Lucy, went on someones stagnight in Brighton (me and yeeb attended) no names no packdrill, had a hilarious night in the old Bank of England pub where we were -pratciciing scrummaging in the bar....met Shitbags for a few beers....met Jakey for a drink or 3 too...good times.

It reminds me of a clubhouse. The core members formed in the early days (1999 on) and defined its character. It didn't matter if they sat at separate tables throwing beermats at one another or some even lurked in the toilet cubicles (like Quentin). Over time, age, over familiarity, boredom, life (even death) diminished that. The position was accentuated as the (mis)management tried to increasingly commoditise it + drive up membership, resulting in increasing amounts of transient sh*t. Now it's a run down building that smells of stale beer and p*ss with passers by popping in to conduct some vandalising.ASMO wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 8:16 pm There are some fruitcakes over there i must admit, but i also had some great time there too, just a shame the lunatics have taken over the assylum. I post on both boards. Come here to see what the Scots are saying when the games are on. Better Premiership discussion as well .
Better Irish rugby discussion on pr but better rugby overall discussion here.

Mog and EDF arguing at length about Joe Rogan's politics is surely a high water mark for PR. Unrivalled content.
He must be over 100 posts a day at the moment and a quick bit of arithmetic shows he has averaged about 23 posts a day for the last 10 years. Its insane.
