The consensus is our issues are up front, so I think forwards coach Plumtree and set piece coach Moar also need to shoulder a lot of the blame. Plumtree talks about the need for physicality and is fond of saying, "we know what to expect" before every test, but I'm starting to think he's just talking out his arse.
Some of these players are just soft and or can't be bothered with the hard stuff or the technique which goes with it. The front row hasn't been coached in offensive defensive, or defensive offence.
Tu'ungafasi. He got driven back upright with the ball. Not the first time this has happened. Doesn't seem to know how to approach contact.
Tuipolotu. The definition of soft. Mucks up the final ball carry and turns it over. It's horrible the ABs have to keep going back to him. He seems bewildered at this level.
Moody is off. Retallick is off. Taylor is off. Akira is playing a different game most of the time, he never seems present for long. Jacobsen and Blackadder are journeymen who produce the occasional performance. Savea is a show pony.
It's all very well having an open game plan with a mobile pack but what are you going to do when you meet a motived and aggressive (if dated) pack like that? Particularly when the ref isn't up to it?
