Noticed this in the Scotsman today, thought you might be interested.

Thanks lad, incredibly sad, but great to know he had such a positive effect on the Scottish team. And good on the Scottish lads to accept him into the team.

Indian fans not taking the loss all that well.

Without video footage, you can't tell if the foot slid across the line (which seems likely), in which case it's obviously a legal delivery.

Afghanistan no easybeats.

They gave South Africa a few anxious moments in the warm up.

Doubtless, Sandy will say that South Africa were fortunate to win.

Are most of them Afghani's or a lot of Pakistanis?

I'm afraid that I don't really know a lot about them.

Scotland will need 191 to win.

Tough ask.

There have been tens of thousands of Afghans who've grown up in refuge camps in Pakistan over the last 40+ years.

Just making the point that where an Afghan is born, isn't a very reliable guide as to their Nationality

I worked years ago with the Afghan Prince; & as far as I could make out; he'd only spent about two years in the country, & he had an English accent you could cut glass with; the product of a very expensive education, in the UK.

Answer IIRC is the sport took off in Afghan refugee camps within Pakistan. Rare nice story.

Scotland have no answer to the spin here, all at sea

The tribal areas that straddle the border identify as Pashtun more so than Pakistanis or Afghans. Imran Khan identifies as Pashtun.

Scotland have barely picked a single ball from the spinners and are still persisting with big gaps between bat and pad and lots of sweeps.

OK, thanks. So most of them would call themselves Afghan. Just checking if we had a rugby league type situation but obviously not

It shouldn't have been too much of a shock ... well maybe the margin; but the Afghans are bloody good, & have regularly shown Ireland how far off they are; so Scotland would have played them enough to know how good they are.

I doubt Scotland will be the only team this world cup, that has a horrible sinking feeling, when the face them.

Yes.

I'm a little nervous about this one.

We gave the Windies a bit of a hiding in the Caribbean earlier this year, and they'll be wanting their revenge, particularly after getting hammered by England.

Logic tells me that we have the measure of the Windies.

However, I'm a bit worried that they were blindsided last time we played them and this time they will be better prepared.

do or die for both underperforming teams, 2 losses to start in a group where only 2 progress will make it very hard to recover.

Windies are clueless tactically as well as lazy (Gayle esp) and so the tactic of trying to slog your way to victory whilst eschewing singles is not going to succeed in these conditions.

That's basically what happened in the Caribbean a couple of months ago. Lewis smashed 50 in the power play, and then Shamzi and the spinners strangled them in the middle overs leaving them too much to do in the back end.

If they bat smart, they are very likely to beat us and I'm a bit concerned that they have learned the lesson.
