Weren't there 3 such instances against the Lions alone, now another one yesterday, probably more during the RC?!
But honestly, the Boks play a game that is dependent on chaos disrupting the opposition defense…be it a box kick or a midfield bomb.
When there is that much chaos, referees also get flustered and want to make sure, so they refer to the TMO. In any given moment on a rugby pitch, if you look really hard, you can probably find 2-3 offenses. So the more referrals, the more disallowed tries are likely.
When we do (rarely) score tries from conventional turnovers or ruck play, they are typically not referred and they stand.
The key really has become to avoid referrals to the TMO because once it goes upstairs it’s a 50/50.
When do World Rugby string up Rassie Erasmus?

He does advance until he is pulled back. However, as far as I can see none of the offside players were involved in the following actions that led to the try. I think it was a very harsh decision.Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 11:30 am For what it's worth that video clearly shows Marx advancing towards the ball from an offside position. Penalty offence.
Slightly pedantic, yes and he then retreats. But they are making a call for a try.

Moving forward is the penalty offence though. He doesn't need the interfere with play. Yes, it's harsh, but it's not incorrect.Lobby wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 11:53 amHe does advance until he is pulled back. as he is getting up he steps over a player and is pulled back even in the act of stepping over said player. If that is the standard for disallowing tries, TMO's can disallow pretty much any try if there's a previous ruck or tackle situationMargin__Walker wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 11:30 am For what it's worth that video clearly shows Marx advancing towards the ball from an offside position. They’ll do it just before the England game, trying to create maximum disruption

Boo! Hiss! Justice for Rassie! Lucky his suspension will finish just in time for him to step into preparations for WC23. I'll miss his shenanigans tbqh. But its probably for the best. He's not been in the best of health and could do with a break. A pity he can't be on the sideline on Saturday. I wonder if his ban includes videos from his sofa.

Needs armbands though. I'll be gutted they don't got the full 'Justice for Bakkies' over it.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 5:41 pmYou can bet on it. Just the England test, but Rassie is SA Director of Rugby. Not sure to what extent this impacts any involvement or plans he had with the URC Coaches and Administrators of the SA based teams, of meetings he might have had scheduled with European Clubs while he is there relating to SA players and access to them.
The wording of the 2 month ban from ANY rugby activities is quite broad.
The match-day ban I have no issue with. Seems fair and could have been made 12 months for all I care.
The 2 month complete rugby ban can be more impactful and damaging in the short term.
Hope this fires the Boks up for Saturday, but that they don’t to any armbands nonsense.

Two months in the off season is very lenient for attempted blackmail of match officials.
Indeed. Let’s be honest, there is zero chance that WR will be consistent in leveling this kind of sanction in future.
They have set a precedent, and just like with every player disciplinary hearing where they have been incredibly inconsistent, every time a coach says anything about referee this is going to be brought up.
It’s going to be mess.

Amusingly there are a couple of precedents (sort of) from the England coaching team at the weekend mentioned in the report.Blake wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 6:55 pmIndeed. Let’s be honest, there is zero chance that WR will be consistent in leveling this kind of sanction in future.

WR had to do something , and the sanction I think is fair.
Maybe even lenient.
Just wish they would also do some introspection and commit to formalising the referee dispute mechanism more and commit to some better timelines in releasing the referee report of matches.
