I sincerely hope so - his sage advice is missed. Wishing the old stairlift/lift shaft inventor all the best.

Didn't know he'd been re-incarcerated, Enz. Please pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery.Enzedder wrote: Fri Jan 28, 2022 3:58 am We were swapping emails from our respective hospital beds. He is having an issue or 3 but is hanging in there.

Yes, and didn’t he invent a new cave diving technique that was the complete opposite of perceived wisdom?Happyhooker wrote: Thu Jan 27, 2022 10:21 pmWhat, you mean all the jokes he wrote for Barry cryer?Slick wrote: Thu Jan 27, 2022 10:14 pm I wondered that earlier with the amount of Globby catnip on the bored today

Is it back/hip/etc issues rather than anything … gulp …
Shocking. All the pressure on beds and they let a locum brain surgeon cum morgue attendant kip in one. Or is he there to find a cure for Covid or restructure the NHS?Enzedder wrote: Fri Jan 28, 2022 3:58 am We were swapping emails from our respective hospital beds. I've known Barry Cryer for quite some time. Never rang his land-line! Horrid news in my camp.Happyhooker wrote: Thu Jan 27, 2022 10:21 pmWhat, you mean all the jokes he wrote for Barry cryer?Slick wrote: Thu Jan 27, 2022 10:14 pm I wondered that earlier with the amount of Globby catnip on the bored today
It was in the Greek Street days with the folks from Private Eye. Peter Cook et al. Loads of them.
Loved Bill Tidy. Got an original of the Centurion at the head of his cohort, meeting the aged hag.
Made a few contributions with bouncing ideas off a few. Happy days.
Golf Ball Striking
A Richard Hammond - straight down the middle like a rocket then veers off into the rough at the last minute
An Arthur Scargill - a great strike but a poor result
A Kate Winslett - a bit fat but otherwise perfect
A Rodney King - over-clubbed
An O.J. Simpson - somehow got away with it
A Condom - safe but didn't feel real good
A sister-in-law - up there but I know that I shouldn't be
A Jamie Oliver - you really want to smack it but you can't
A Glen Miller - didn't make it over the water
A Gerry Adams - a provisional
A Sally Gunnell - ugly but a good runner
A Paula Radcliffe - not as ugly as a Sally Gunnell but still a good runner
A Bobby Sands - a bit thin
A Princess Grace - should have taken a driver
A Princess Di - shouldn't have taken a driver
A Robin Cook - just died on the hill
A Michael Jackson - gradually fading
A Paris Hilton - an expensive hole
A Ladyboy - looks like an easy hole but all is not what it seems
A Blondie - a fair crack down the middle
Putting
A Dennis Wise - a nasty 5 footer
A Salman Rushdie - an impossible read
A Rock Hudson- thought it was straight, but it wasn't
A Cuban - needed one more revolution
A Douglas Bader - nae legs
An Elton John - big bender that lips the rim
A Gynaecologists Assistant - just shaves the hole
Bunker Play
An Adolf Hitler - taking two shots in a bunker
Saddam Hussein - from one bunker straight into another
Yasser Arafat - ugly and in the sand
Anyway, been in hospital for a while but escaped. It was like Colditz but being on the fourth floor meant no tunnelling as I'd have gone through one of the MRI scanners and one of the operating theatres below.
Nice to have a wee dip back here. When I get sorted, I'll chuck a few things up.
Best wishes all.

I drink and I forget things.
He’s all good, and speaks from his own free will. Just hanging out freely with Peng Shuai.

I must admit to having occasional concern for Globby while he was MIA even though he boiled my piss on PR.
That occasional concern instantly evaporated and was replaced with a burning hatred of a thousand stars once i read his posts on this thread

And that's still my leaning too. Whereas several posters are convinced he's real. Maybe it's a bit of both?HighKingLeinster wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 10:38 am I must admit to having occasional concern for Globby while he was MIA even though he boiled my piss on PR.

Yes. But that does not inform us whether that's really him or if it's all part of a gigantic (and successful) wind up.SaintK wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 12:14 pmEverthing's all about himSlick wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 11:24 amI'm one of those convinced he is real. I know that you and the London cabal are convinced that is the case, but it beggars belief that anyone could seriously believe in such yarns. Eric Olthwaite has nothing on this. For example, I've seen his house and Chatsworth it absolutely is not .JM2K6 wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 2:53 pm All I can add to that is a) I'm glad he's okay despite my antipathy towards him, and b) I've known enough people who've known him in real life to be confident that this isn't some sort of internet persona, it's Just Him.
I don't think anyone is suggesting that the self-aggrandising stuff is actually true, just that it's what he's really like.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 3:29 pmI know that you and the London cabal are convinced that is the case, but it beggars belief that anyone could seriously believe in such yarns. No, I get that. But the issue over whether it's a wind up or not hinges upon whether he believes the stuff or not? And since much of it is easy to disprove, that leaves troll or unhinged?JM2K6 wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 3:30 pmI don't think anyone is suggesting that the self-aggrandising stuff is actually true, just that it's what he's really like.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 3:29 pmI know that you and the London cabal are convinced that is the case, but it beggars belief that anyone could seriously believe in such yarns. {EDIT} The only posters I know who met him were Calendar Blue and Fat Albert (I think: he is the one who's the global warming conspiracy theory believer?) and I lost contact with CB after she left FAAM, so can't get a steer there.

Surely the wind-up suggestion is that he posts this stuff knowing it'll annoy people vs him posting this stuff in a genuine attempt to make people think he's as important as he wants to think he is. Like, he knows he didn't actually pronounce someone dead, but he wants to sound more important than he is, so that's why he said it. As opposed to him saying it just to wind people up.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 3:35 pmNo, I get that. FA is the climate nutjob, yes. IIRC he's moved on to some other conspiracy stuff now too.
Honestly who cares? He is an internet persona who may have led a highly colourful existance, or be a complete blowhard, either way it has exactly zero relevance to my life or anything connected to it. If it gives him pleasure to regale stories, true or otherwise, what harm is there in it. Of course if it becomes like junk mail, then action may be required.
