Police investigation 'won't take longer than a year'
More lines now from the Met Police commander leading its investigation into parties, which Boris Johnson repeatedly urged MPs to wait for when facing tough criticism in the Commons earlier.
The Met has been handed more than 300 photos, Commander Catherine Roper told the media.
She also said:
Her team would start contacting people soon to ask them questions and expected that people would "tell the truth"
The investigation will not last "more than a year" and she wants to fast-track it
The police asked Sue Gray to hold back information on events they are looking into because it would otherwise make it harder to interview people and have them provide "their account from their own memory"
Police officers on duty at Downing Street could be questioned if appropriate
They're not even being subtle about their corruption
Stop voting for fucking Tories

Worth reading if only for this imaginary interview of a notable suspect a la Line of Duty:
Q: What can you tell us about the alleged party on [DATE]?
A: Nothing at all, old bean. It’s absolute rhubarb! I wasn’t even told!
Q: Nobody told you anything about a party?
A: Piffle and balderdash! Nothing at all. You can check my phone and my emails!
Q: You had your phone on you all that day, did you?
A: Absolutely.
Q: Nobody else used it?
A: Of course not!
Q: We have analysed your phone, and your emails. And they’re clean. But we’d like to ask you about this. [PRESENTS DOCUMENT]
A: Cripes! What is this?
Q: These are messages we recovered from the mobile phone of X. They were deleted from your phone, it seems. And would you agree that these show you in detailed conversation about the party? Down to you even demanding a particular wine?
[PAUSE]
A: No comment.

So you can just do whatever you want once enough people have voted you in - no such thing as accountability. How deluded are these people, and how much dirt do they all have on each other?!

Those kind of questions only come from a Copper who is actually trying to catch a liar in a Lie; & this is a Copper who also has no interest in ever getting another promotion; & who doesn't mind getting the shittest shifts; on the dodgiest beats, for the remainder of their career.
Who knows; they might even get an invitation to piss in a bottle, or give a blood sample; at some future, inconvenient date !

I'm willing to bet none of the oligarchs that contributed to the coffers, or threw Kompromat parties, or find themselves recently ennobled will be subject to sanctions.

Anyone else think this is just a little too convenient? Means she is out of the way whilst the letters pile in to the 1922 Committee and doesn't have to be implicated in getting rid of the Blonde Bumblecunt. Gives her 5+ days to work on strategy for leadership battle ahead - get her hair done. new nails with Union Jack colours, a few new power suits ordered with the extra big 'Falcons Crest' shoulder pads, couple of pairs of high heeled Jimmy Choos on order, a quick chemical skin peel for that glowing look, legs done with the strimmer and some extensive sessions with her vocal coach to hone that slow, deep and powerful voice to make her sound 'presidential'. She will also be memorising all the Brexit benefits (Imperial measures on pint glasses) again and any other important three word slogans that come to mind. It will be a busy time for wee Liz, bless her, but this is her big chance and she can't afford to blow it!

Don't worry about that. The UK govt is making taking to the streets illegal.

It's impossible to know the true state of affairs; & only Brady knows how many letters are in the drawer.
Today we had some MPs declaring their undying love; & saying they were now convinced he was their man; & another plum said he was taking his letter back; but who the hell knows if he'd even sent in a letter ?, it seemed unlikely.
On the other hand; we had a former PM, & two former whips being very clear that he needed to go; & they seemed a lot more credible.
No 10 is running a full on propaganda campaign; & because the Whips are acting like the Spanish Inquisition; I can't imagine that any junior MP is being honest with them

Othello became paranoid and killed his wife.
I heard one MP saying it stank but Boris delivered them the victory before and is the only person that can deliver victory again.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 9:42 pmIt's impossible to know the true state of affairs; & only Brady knows how many letters are in the drawer.

Just to step back for a second, that is saying that winning the election is the only thing that matters and how that is achieved is irrelevant. It’s so ingrained that no one bats an eyelid and the MP doesn’t think for a second that it is controversial, because it’s not. It’s so fucked.

Saw a comment on the Guardian; that gives me an idea for PMQ's this week.
What would it look like; if every opposition Q; called the lazy, fat, cunt; a liar; & demanded he correct the record on a previous lie he had told to the house; & the Speaker hadn't made him correct ?
The issue is now, the; character; of the PM of the UK; & that is what the Tory Party; & it's MP's should be judged on.
Let the Speaker, ask each & every MP to retract; & have them stand by the truth; & let the Speaker protect the liar over them; & tell them to withdraw. With a little co-ordination; they can each pick a specific lie; & a specific occasion he told it in; & just lay on how many times he's shown contempt for the Parliament.
I think it'd be a powerful demonstration of who the elites really are; & how the system is rigged; to have constituents see their MP's being forced out of the House, for telling the truth; & seeing someone they all, already know is a liar; be protected by the system.

The real worry I have is that none of the Tories want to be leader at this time so no one will push him off the iceberg.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 9:42 pmIt's impossible to know the true state of affairs; & only Brady knows how many letters are in the drawer.

It's only a worry; if you want the Tories to survive ?
This is like the GOP & the shitgibbon; the longer it takes them to ditch them; the deeper the stench penetrates, & the harder it is to drop.
I'm flipping between wanting the UK to cop the fuck on & ditch the bastard; & taking the C69 position & hoping the cocksucker survives as long as possible; because he will do enormous damage to the scum who made Brexit happen.
Cop the fuck on. The longer he remains the more damage he does to the country and the harder it becomes to move on and the more invincible he feels.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 12:28 amIt's only a worry; if you want the Tories to survive ?

You knew what you were buying; & still went ahead with the purchase.
I've some sympathy for those that voted to remain; & voted for parties; other than the Tories; but this isn't a moment of madness by the UK voter in the demographic of this site; it's a pattern of voting/apathy/compliance over the last two or three decades; that brought the entire population to the shitshow.

Really think this is the worst of all worlds. Looks like the Tories lack the balls to knife him and so he limps on with a cloud over him, with an election not due with two years. What a mess.

Noteworthy that neither the Mail or the Telegraph is backing the PM this morning. They are usually pretty good at judging which way the wind is blowing with Tory voters. Wonder whether this will focus minds on the backbenches.

Watching that last night even for her she's surely on something.
Mind she's earned a few drinks, she's been busy cancelling meetings with the gambling commission to even suggest at having decent record keeping (and only that as there's barely no regulation and no regulator) and sort donations from the gambling industry
Yeah, I can't see how pointing to the USA and the GOP is a defence of wanting to keep Boris in place. I'd rather we avoided all of that, thanks.petej wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 12:35 amCop the fuck on.
