Sad to see Nigel Starmer straight in at No 6.
Oldest at 99 is Henry Kissinger in 2nd place up 13 places from last year. Youngest is Shane MacGowan 65 in 50th place down 2 places from 2021.
Mel Brooks is the highest riser from last year!!!
Thjere are a few like Harry Belafonte and Lerslie Phillips I didn't realise were still alive

You can easily see another year like 2016 soon. Started on a gut punch with Bowie, ended on another one with Carrie Fisher. And between them Prince, Muhammad Ali, Alan Rickman, Gene Wilder, George Martin, and many others. But it was those first two that got to me.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

I’ll tell you who’s not on that list, and who’s death would be a kick in the nuts to many, many people’s childhoods.

Julie Andrews. 86 now..

It's saddening to see Loretta Lynn on that list, which is in dubious taste it has to be said.

I grew up with Country Music as part of my day to day as well as Scottish music, my mum loved Dolly, Loretta, Patsy, Hank Williams Jnr, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell etc (my first ever gig was GC at Edinburgh's Usher Hall with my mum!)

Loretta and Conway Twitty were ace.

Anyway, a recent(ish) song from one of the Queens of Country. Ms Loretta Lynn

Indeed. I'm actually surprised he made it this far, given his health and the track record of conservationists being killed in Kenya.

It’ll be a sad day when David Attenborough passes. One of the greats when it comes to conservation.

He will be gone with his incredible nature appreciation, capturing and showing the beauty of it all. Instead we will be left with the new generation conservationist “blah blah blah”.

He's a tough act to follow, but for me the sad thing from that list is how few people from the younger generation appear to be picking up the baton who just aren't the same caliber.

I avoid attenboroughs shows like the plague. They are just too depressing with the 20 minutes of extinction stuff at the end.
Think Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Joe Satriani, David Lee Roth all have one foot out the door.
David Lee Roth is just a fucking phenomenon and someone we should all aspire to be.
Gave up being a rock star involuntarily for a bit, became a Paramedic, loves the outdoors and being active.. and finding new experiences, absolutely loves life (to the point where everyone thinks he is on Cocaine) and unlike many multi millionaires actually really enjoys paying his taxes (as he worked in the Public Sector).

He was brilliant on UC. Humble and unassuming unlike Paxman.

I cannot believe that Paul Gascoigne has outlived him.

I didn't go on Uni Challenge - my college did while I was there but I wasn't good enough for the A team, especially since the made it to the final and lost to a Cambridge college with a clearly autistic captain - but I did compete in the British Universities Quiz Championship. Made it all the way to the final but lost over three rounds to Oxford A after we'd beat them in the earlier rounds.

 ooh, get her!

Consider my chapeau cocked and my eyebrow doffed.

Especially as you would have had to answer all those questions written and TMed by a cranial mechanic of our mutual acquaintance

Would that be a former electro-chemist who went on Mastermind with F1 as his specialist subject?
