How many years before the Aussies are competitive? Can't have a meaningful comp where only one side wins.

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) has made the decision to relocate the six New Zealand-based Super Rugby Pacific squads to Queenstown to mitigate against the risk of COVID-19 side-lining any of the teams.

Six New Zealand based squads will move to Queenstown this weekend

Matches to be played at Wakatipu and Invercargill for three to four weeks

Relocation will not affect announced Super Rugby Pacific draw

NZR is weighing options for Super Rugby Aupiki squads

I assume there will be no spectators, or perhaps pods of 100 scattered around the ground. If there are insufficient entrances/exits, maybe they can stagger the pods by 10-15 mins so there is no interaction.

Last year : NZ teams -23 wins, Aus teams - 2 wins. Imo it needs to be way more competitive to be succesful.

I'm not sure the opinion of yeravridge Saffa really carries much weight when it comes to talking about succeeding in Super Rugby.

Chiefs are having a pre-season match against Newbies Moana P in Auckland this evening.

8 minutes in and no score - lots of little handling errors (butterfingers).

So happy that Folau Fakatava got through the pre-season game and looked fully recovered.

Please let him be eligible for the All Blacks this year....

Geez with Super getting ready to start (and 6N etcgoing on), I have just realised how flighty I getting. Went up to Auckland to a show a couple of weeks back, stopped off to see Grandson in Tauranga etc, when I got back to Hawera I had decided f*** cities don't need or want them!
Then super gets close , looking at rugby season, and already decided Ireland test in Wellington, and may have to do a Bledisloe , plus if we get to go to Super games. might have to do atrip to Welly , so I actually meant f*** cities for a couple of months!!
I really looking forward to start in meantime and see how the midfield combos go.

Seven Moana Pasifika players have tested positive for Covid-19 in Queenstown, a well-placed source has confirmed to Stuff, putting the first game of Super Rugby Pacific against the Blues under serious doubt.

Moana Pasifika were due to play the Blues at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin next Friday, but the Covid-19 outbreak within the camp means that may have to be rescheduled. Moana Pasifika's pre-season fixture against the Highlanders on Saturday is also likely to be cancelled.

Nope. My guess is we'll see some interruptions and disrupted squads. Once teams are into the bubble they might be able to keep it all together and running free of hassles but that's a tall order.

First Rugby News mag of year was delivered by postman yesterday, so as I usually do I poring over it from cover to cover reading every word and getting mentally ready!!!

Just trying to work out with NZ going into phase 2 of covid repnse and close contacts etc only having to isolate for 7 days, does that make it easier for MP to get back training earlier ? Anyway good to have super back, so get to see how young fellas come through in the season!

Hell no mate, I a Canes man, always have been, even if I now live in Chiefs territory supposedly (though I still say South Taranaki never sold out  ), mate I am interested in all super teams in NZ and will tend to comment on them all, and enjoy any playing good rugby, but never doubt I am a Canes man!!

I not one of those Crusaders people who dislike anything or anyone who isn't from my area, I a NZ rugby man first and foremost, then a Canes ,Taranaki, and Nua (Heartlnd) Southern or Stratford clubs and Athletic still in the Mighty Nua comp!

Hawera is within the Whanganui electorate, so shouldn't you really be supporting the Butcher Boys?

Yep but can't let political boundaries decide my sports area. Plus I support the Mighty Nua in heartland, was on the Nua board way back when we won what was then 3rs division (beat Wanganui) and one of rules is can't really change who I support.
It's a rule of my sporting life!

One interesting law tweak that I am looking forward to seeing.

Scrums must now set within 30 seconds of being awarded. That'll sort out some fatties and get Saffer scribes shaking

Crap ain’t it. No wonder Sky actually dropped price on my subscription this year. I know, they don’t give a sh1t about Super Rugby but it’s a general trend where they don’t seem to be bidding for many sports. Repeats and 2nd grade events dominate their airwaves.

Murdoch was too stubborn to go into streaming early. Now they're struggling to restructure and the various SkySport outlets are shedding.
