He's a key element of their creativity, but also, somewhat intangibly, things just seem to work around him including favourable bounces of the ball.

If rumours are to be believed, Youngs to start with Furbank at 15 and Stewert to the wing, abject surrender if true

That team is still asking for an awful lot from Ntamack, and that is a possible weak link unless he has a sublime game. How they set up there's only so much help Jaminet even could be, and for all he tries I'm not sold on Villiere yet, and I don't like a 6:2 bench split. Still, they probably are the best side going right now

Two enforced changes (Ewels and Curry gone)

Launchbury dropped entirely, Isiekwe back in, Chessum on the bench

Underhill straight in at 7 with no cover for him

Malins gone, Steward to wing(!), Furbank to fullback(!!!)

Randall dropped to the bench and Youngs back in

Blamire dropped, Dolly in

Stuart starting ahead of Sinckler

+ Daly rewarded for his absolute shite by still getting a bench spot

I feel that if we do somehow win this it'll be as the result of the most spectacular French implosion we've ever seen.

Jones can fuck right off. That's some ludicrous selections.
Feel sorry for Steward if he's playing opposite Penaud.

Dink the ball in behind Nowell and Steward and the French wingers will have a field day running past our turning circles. Marchant is likely to spend the whole match cover tackling.

Fucking joke selection, fucking joke coach. Only jones can make the worlds slowest back 3 even slower.

That is the plan isn't? And it nearly worked for Wales.

England have no ambitions to play expansively. They just need to grind this out. And pounce on the 75% high ball the French will knock on, drop or miss altogether.

FM. What planet are you on?

What else does Ntamack need for an armchair ride? The best pack in the 6N in front of him. The world's best player at SH distributing and providing a huge distracting threat around the breakdown. Easily the best backline in the 6N outside him.

You need to watch more rugby. Villiere is not a star for the tries he scores but for the fact that as a midget he makes as many turnovers as some back rowers. He is defensively the best wing in the world.

Backline really lacks pace. Steward must be the slowest FB on the planet. Maclou would beat him over 100m giving him a 10m head start!
Furbank in........... and so Snail Steward goes to the wing!

Just watching what the French setup is, how flat they play. That's a lot of information to process continually and it's pretty much all on Ntamack. Yes it's a great setup in terms of the pack and the 9, but it's a pressure point which it is possible to exploit because he's pretty much doing it alone, it's why they've tried Ntamack at 12 to help spread that workload

And on Villiere, tries as in makes an effort, not tries as in scores lots of them. Also even if he is the best turnover winger going it doesn't follow he's the best defensive wing in world rugby

I have nothing against playing a very negative strategy. Plenty of teams have done it to us when we've had a title on the line. I am unconvinced that side can successfully pull off that gameplan and I can't see where a try comes from.

To come back to that English team, from what I have seen against Ireland, they have trialed the tactic they will used against France to great effect and they have taken heart in the fact that they troubled Ireland for 70min before the energy spent in playing 14 against 15 took its toll.

I was impressed by the pinpoint up and under which landed 5m in front of the Irish 22m line (this denying Ireland an opportunity to call the mark) and gave just enough time for the English chasers to be on it as it landed. With the English pack then applying full pressure, they managed to get convertible penalties.

I don't expect England to try to score tries, though of course if we do offer them an open run, they'll go for it, but I fully expect them to grind penalties and pin us in our half.

Where that plan could work better against France than against Ireland is in the fact that the French are really weak under the high ball. It is no longer 50/50 but 75/25 in favor of England in that area.

The other Welsh strength was their ability to deny Dupont time and space after a turn-over, and putting pressure on our attack to prevent a counter-attacking movement.

All France have to do to nullify England is don't kick, run the ball at them, get wide asap and the lack of pace in the England back 3 will soon tell. Eddie is banking on France kicking.

Ntamack has been at 12 because everyone has had doubts about his ability to play 10. Mola has even used Ramos there and moved Ntamack into 12. This is like the "must have Farrell in at any cost" mentality.

Whichever tries! He scores plenty. There is no-one in the Fre side who works harder at his game than Villiere. I doubt there is a wing in the world who turns over as much ball as he does and I'm struggling to think of a better tackler. He hits like a train, legal and often drives heavier men yards back. I really have no idea how much you've seen of Villiere or what to come the conclusion you have. I've said before that after Dupont, he is now the 1st name on the teamsheet. He's keeping Thomas out FFS who would walk into any other side except maybe NZ and SA.

You are half right. Ntamack does dictate the team moves and mostly gets them wrong. Hence why that backline, despite all its ability, often looks bereft of ball. Ntamack is a moderate in terms of ability and has no game management or reading capability at all.
