Won't happen and we'll actually have to hire way more in the customs agents so we can finally start checking EU goods.
It's just a typically facile analysis and policy prescription by Johnson. Yes, bureaucratic bloat is a thing but there is something that happened in 2016 which might explain why the civil service has had a lot on since.

The Home Office also needs vast numbers more people for visa processing now as well.

I'm sure Boris was telling us on Tuesday how he was going to create more high wage jobs to improve the economy, and now he's going to cut 90k jobs himself? :wtf:

Almost like this wasn't thought through and is a bad idea which won't happen anyway.... :bimbo:

But yeah let's sack 90 thousand civil servants, its what Thatcher would have done.. that'll make everything fine.

They actually did get rid of many tiers of civil servants back then, and what happened was they found they had lost thousands of "man-years" of experience and knowledge, so they had to buy in consultants at private sector prices.

They are fiscally incompetent, no other description.
Some are incredibly dogmatically opposed to the idea of anything being in state hands while others know the price of everything and value of nothing.

I'd expect this to mostly be yet another dead cat. There are few areas that could stand to lose many civil servants.

Even if attempting to privatise the functions most of those 90,000 perform there would be a substantial gap in service while that's all sorted out (not even going into the gap in service when state functions are privatised due to the penny-pinching 'efficiency' of the private sector...) of the kind that would upset voters. Whether they correctly attribute the blame would remain to be seen, though, I guess. A depressing number still don't seem to have identified the Tories as the source of most of their ills.

The preferred option might well be TUPE, so the jobs still exist but the claim can be made of culling Civil Service posts

Speaking of high skilled jobs.

From the Grauniad
Prospect union, which represents highly skilled civil servants, has sent a letter to the government criticising plans to cut Whitehall staff numbers signed by general secretary Mike Clancy.

He writes:

Prospect represents highly skilled civil servants, many of whom have better paid comparators in the private sector. We also represent roles across the private sector and quite frankly would not expect to see those employers behave in the way the government is towards its civil servants.
To be clear: without these civil servants you will not be able to effectively help our country recover from the pandemic, nor tackle the cost-of-living crisis. It will also not be possible to achieve your levelling up ambitions
As Brexit and then the pandemic hit, ministers repeatedly found that government had too little capacity to deal with major challenges, due to the big cuts in public services that have been made since 2010. These proposals risk doubling down on this mistake, and ultimately costing government more in the long run.
Prime Minister, we are a union known for constructive engagement and finding solutions through dialogue, but we cannot go on like this. You are risking the future of the very civil service who saw the country through the pandemic crisis and who you relied on. Your combination of real terms pay cuts, attempts to reduce redundancy terms, and now huge job reductions will destroy morale which has already been adversely impacted. It’s time to change course and work with your civil servants, rather than being in opposition to them.
The letter has been edited for length.

This is all part of their longer term plans to privatise anything and everything, including the NHS.

JRM and his father before him developed and were driven by the concept of the 'Sovereign Individual' as a response to the technology age and predicted/wanted the destruction of nations and the state which they claim will be driven out of existence. After that it is everyone for themselves. Wiki gives a feel for the book here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sovereign_Individual. Interestingly the preface to the book is written by Thiel of Paypal and Musk fame. Co-author Davidson claims to be a famous economist but is a bit of a nutter, a forerunner to the conspiracy theorists of today and has no formal qualifications in economics! They are literally a bunch of dangerous nutters.

The ideology has gained ground within the Tory party and is now used to drive a lot of their policies and overall direction. Once you've got a feel for the book and the thinking behind it then you can understand the behaviours we are seeing from the likes of Patel, Raab, etc. 'Britannia Unchained', written by Raab, Truss, Kwarteng, Patel, Skidmore and Truss is just an extension and a variation on the Sovereign Individual theme looking to 'free' the country from the shackles of legislative and economic shackles, etc etc. Badly researched and poorly written but it explains why these guys are now in high office driving policy formulation. They are more dangerous than people think!

The Blonde Bumblecunt (indeed most of the Tory MPs) has not a single philosophical thought in his head, he uses them and they use him as convenient vehicles for achieving each others aims and ambitions. They are a clear and present danger to our country - if you are not worried about them and what they want to achieve you should be. They will not resign, they will not stop doing what they are doing, they are zealots of the worst kind.

He wasn't taught very well if he thinks NI is part of Great Britain.

Of course part of the problem now is that he'll have gone away from that thinking that the audience was full of woke lefties planted by the BBC and that's why he didn't get applause, and drive himself further into the fucking mental corner.

Even in a private meeting he can't bring it upon himself to apologise to her and her family.
What a sack of shit of a human being
Boris Johnson failed to apologise to Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe after she described the “massive impact” his false claim had on her six-year detention in Iran, her husband said.

PA reports:

The prime minister was seemingly “shocked” after the British-Iranian dual national told him she had lived for years in the “shadow of his words” during their first meeting since her release.

Speaking to reporters in Downing Street, Ratcliffe said his wife challenged the prime minister on “why did it take so long” to secure her release.

She also told him the “massive impact” his comments had on her, even saying the Iranian authorities brought Johnson’s words up during interrogation shortly before her release.

Asked if the Prime Minister apologised, Ratcliffe responded: “Not specifically.”

His 'gaffe' (read: talking out of his arse without care as usual and condeming an innocent woman to years in Iranian prison), even if we disregard everything else that makes him unsuitable, should've prevented the Tories from electing him party leader and the electorate from validating that decision. But we live in a country where a solid 35% of the population are at best unthinking, but many are just awful.

He did an interview for the Reclaim Party social media channels (why a Tory MP would do an interview for another party's SM I don't know) and he and the interviewer (Martin Daubney, another twat) slandered / defamed her multiple times. Given what she did to Katie Hopkins in her last libel trial, these guys are in trouble. This will be fun to watch.

Jack Monroe to sue MP after he says ‘she makes fortune from the poor’

Jack Monroe has instructed libel lawyers after the Tory MP Lee Anderson alleged the writer and food blogger was profiteering from the poor.

Monroe, who won a rancorous, high-profile libel action against the former Daily Mail columnist Katie Hopkins in 2017, tweeted that the MP’s comments were a “very clear cut case of outright libel”.

Although not confirmed, the lawyer in question could be Mark Lewis who pioneered the phone-hacking claims that led to the closure of the News of the World.

In a separate tweet, Monroe reached out to him: “got a job for you pal”.

The row began after deputy leader of the Reclaim Party, Martin Daubney, posted a clip of an interview he had conducted with Anderson.

At the start of the clip, Daubney refers to Monroe as the “self-appointed representative of the impoverished”, adding she has “sold loads of books. Done quite well out of it. No doubt, probably earns more than the prime minister”.

Anderson responds by stating: “She’s taking money off some of the most vulnerable people in society and making an absolute fortune on [sic] the back of people.”

I wonder is this a new perv, or has perhaps some recent events triggered new complainants ?

Could, for example, an MP who was recently cleared of a rape charge, perhaps so outraged some of his previous victims ?

I suppose we'll have to watch the backbenches to see who's missing.
