Given that he's been arrested on suspicion of indecent assault, sexual assault, rape, abuse of position of trust and misconduct in public office over a seven year period (2002 -2009), its clearly a bit more than drunkenly groping a couple of researchers at a party conference, and if the allegations prove to be true, you'd have to think he will be spending a considerable amount of time behind bars.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 11:24 pm Even Guido is sticking the knife in; the evidence must be awful, if a tory boy like him is knifing a Brexiteer

Rosindell's wikipedia page is a wild ride. A man who's interests include flags, Overseas Territories and the death penalty is unlikely to be having much consensual sex without paying for it.
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages, What feats he did that day
The ongoing spate of Tories being found to be sex pests, porn watchers at work, carrying out affairs in work premises, drug abusers, masturbating at work whist watching porn on their laptop, paedophile convictions, nazi sympathisers, etc cannot be explained by the 'bad apple' excuse. The numbers are too high to use this explanation, way above the rates for this sort of behaviour found in the population at large. There has to be another explanation - the culture of the Tory party, attraction of deviant males into the Tory party, existing role models in Pm and MP cohort, abuse of power by weak, pathetic men put into positions of power, background of Tory candidates/MPs - are some of the possible explanations. That is not to say all tories are sexually deviant, of course not, no others are perfectly normal and focus instead on 'normal' crime such as dodgy PPE contracts, insider dealing, second jobs, selling political influence, taking 'donations' from undesirable 3rd parties, etc. Even the Party itself seems funded by dodgy and illegal 'donations' from some very illegal sources from enemies of the state organised by Party Officials who wouldn't meet the 'fit and proper' test to own a football club. The party also seems able to 'accept' and 'excuse' these behaviours from their officer cohort and seem very reluctant to do very much about them when they are caught, their response always seems slow, unwilling and inadequate. If all else fails their stock response is 'politicians are all the same', ' it is a difficult job with long hours and hard work' or, as a last resort, 'we always thought he was a dodgy MP and was never one of the chaps'.
No doubt some psychiatrists and other clinicians/academics are already looking into this phenomenon but it does seem bizarre that such a very small but increasingly powerful cohort of the population can exhibit such deviant and corrupt behaviour. Of course power has always corrupted, just look at how the nazi party in the 1930's attracted and persuaded small, inadequate and often socially awkward men to undertake the most heinous and barbarous behaviours in the name of 'progress', the 'nation' and the 'people'. As with most of these examples in history the nazi leaders did exactly the opposite of what they told others not to do and rewarded themselves accordingly. Please be clear, I am not drawing any direct parallels between the Tories and the nazi party, I merely use this as an illustration of the way power can corrupt and in particular how weak, small, inadequate men with a history of 'strange' behaviour outside normal societal norms who gain power and influence through politics and use and abuse it in corrupt, illegal and often deviant ways to satisfy their own desires. I still wonder what the explanation for the behaviours amongst the current Tory MPs can be?

According to the Guardian, “the alleged sexual offences for which a Conservative MP has been arrested include one connected to someone aged under 18”.
Oh and the police have been investigating the allegations since January 2020, so have probably already collected a fair amount of evidence against the bastard.

Well, while accepting innocent until proven guilty, you'd think that the party should stand him down, as far as I'm aware now he's on bail he can carry out his constituency duties as usual. No-one appears to be denying the rumours of his identity but not everyone follows the news and his constituents ought to have the right to know that their MP whom they may meet in an official capacity or inadvertently still is facing these serious charges. Simply keeping him out of the halls at Westminster isn't enough.Lobby wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 5:17 pm According to the Guardian, “the alleged sexual offences for which a Conservative MP has been arrested include one connected to someone aged under 18”.
Oh and the police have been investigating the allegations since January 2020, so have probably already collected a fair amount of evidence against the bastard.
The Conservative MP accused of rape and sexual assault will not attend Parliament while police carry out their investigation, the Speaker has said.
The unnamed man in his 50s was arrested on Tuesday over allegations dating back to between 2002 and 2009.
He has been released on bail to a date in mid-June pending further enquiries.
Labour is calling on the Conservatives to suspend the man from the parliamentary party, meaning his identity would become public.
A spokesman for Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said it was a "matter for the Conservative Party" but that the "nature of the allegations" meant it "doesn't seem to be sustainable to argue that he shouldn't be suspended from the whip".
The spokesman added that removing the whip would "inevitably" mean the individual would be named publicly.
He confirmed that Sir Keir would suspend a Labour MP if they were facing the same allegations.
The man is not being named by media outlets.
The police do not usually name individuals until they are charged and Parliament is not required to identify MPs who've been arrested.
Earlier this year, the Supreme Court strengthened the right to privacy for people who are under investigation but have not been charged.
Liz Truss, diplomat supreme.
The thing is that we Irish are used to this sort of racist shite from the Brits; but the Yanks ! I'd say some of them only recently picked up their jaws. The former career diplomat revealed in an article she wrote in a US academic journal last year that a UK government minister made the remarks but she did not identify the minister at the time.
Last night Ms Hall Hall retweeted a tweet by Ms Truss in which the foreign secretary said the UK government’s “first priority is to uphold the Belfast Agreement” – the 1998 deal that underpins the Northern Ireland peace process. Ms Truss shared a link to her House of Commons speech in which she set out plans to introduce legislation to override the Northern Ireland Brexit deal.
Retweeting the message, Ms Hall Hall said: “So pleased to see Liz Truss become a genuine expert on Irish matters. She was, after all, the minister who told a US audience three years ago that Brexit would not have any serious impact in Ireland . . . it would merely ‘affect a few farmers with turnips in the back of their trucks.’”

Met Police announces the investigation into lockdown breaches in Downing Street and Whitehall is complete
The Metropolitan Police announced on Thursday that 126 referrals for fixed penalty notices have been made for a series of lockdown breaches in Downing Street and Whitehall. The Met said the inquiry, which began in January, said the fines related to eight gatherings in government buildings, according to the BBC. The report from senior civil servant Sue Gray is now expected to follow in full.

Incompetence, or just trying to pull a flanker?
Mendaciousness, pure and simple.
Earlier this week, Liz Truss stated to the HoC that there was a majority in NI against the protocol. That's less than a couple of weeks after elections to the NI assembly in which 60% of the candidates returned were in favour of the protocol.
The lying is just so brazen, and the press doesn't appear to even attempt to keep them honest.

Reportedly she once got made a fool of by Channel Four ( to be fair that's not a task you need to try at very hard ), so this obsession may well be very personal as well as the longer term aim of removing Channel 4 News from the air since they refuse to report news the way the government wants.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 4:38 pmThe thick bint also admitted to stealing netflicks, so presumably will be resigning over that admission

Having been in London all week and hearing stories at meetings of what is happening in government, the bit about decisions being made on self preservation is particularly relevant.
I’ve heard that Truss is deliberately withholding funds to overseas development projects that have already been signed off as she thinks a leadership bid is in the offing and doesn’t want to be seen funding them
I spoke with a Tory MP who has been working tirelessly for years with Africa in various positions who has just had his latest role stripped, and hasn’t been replaced, because he refused to vote with Boris.
I spoke with some Kenyan officials who had been pestered to bring over a senior Ministerial delegation a couple of weeks back so the government could announce a new trade deal, but the day of the announcement No10 saw an opportunity to put out something they thought was more helpful and instead announced the defunding of major development projects in Kenya and left the Ministers high and dry and embarrassed and they left early. This has seriously dented bilateral cooperation.
There is a lot of anger out there from a lot of different people

That is all very funny at this point. What the fuck did these Tory MP's expect? Aren't they meant to all be so very clever? Did they convince themselves that Boris would be different this time like every other sad ex-lover he has let down. Mass delusion?Slick wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 5:54 pmHaving been in London all week and hearing stories at meetings of what is happening in government, the bit about decisions being made on self preservation is particularly relevant.
