Oh those saucy Romans

"Got you a nice piece of jewellery for your birthday, mater"
Rare Roman penis pendant found by metal detectorist Wendy Thompson

A "first of its kind" silver penis pendant from the Roman era has been declared as a piece of treasure.

Metal detectorist Wendy Thompson discovered the phallic amulet while searching a farm in Higham, near Gravesend and Strood.

My son, a resident of Beach Haven, rang me to tell me that he had been woken at 5:30-ish by the sound of gunfire, less than 100m from his house. His kids are with him this weekend but they slept through it.

Not what you expect in a lovely, leafy North Shore suburb.

British Museums are chock full of the, looted National treasures, of other Countries, & most of the Countries want them back !

The Middle-Eastern countries were particularly badly hit, probably because they got looted during the Victorian period, when Egypt in particular became a fascination of British Upper class, & now as a result, the Sphinx's beard sits in a store room of the V&A, instead of in a Museum in Egypt where it belongs. The Elgin marbles saga has been dragging on for decades now, & still without resolution, so it's hardly surprising that any Nation finding a British citizen continuing the theft of their National heritage, gives them short shrift !

It's unfortunate on a human level for this person, but they are getting the equivalent of a Team Yellow card, for a pattern of behaviour, from people carrying the same passport, & it didn't all happen centuries ago, it's ongoing, like how the hell the Seuso Treasure hoard made it's way into the possession of Marquess of Northampton.

Was covering a history class once and the teacher had the students watch a doc on D-Day. There's a clip where Allied troops are marching Wehrmacht POWs from the beach and I spot at least one Asian dude, maybe two, and yell "Huh! Was that an Asian guy?!" Of course, some of the Asian students look at me like I'm nuts, but we rewind and they instantly agree with me. We pause and Google and discover this story, wondering if he'd also been caught in some newsreel footage or if there were others?

I see there's some doubt over this person's identity, and that an Airborne officer on D-Day reported capturing four Asians: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yang_Kyoungjong

Seems like there were a bunch from these groups: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostlegionen

Dang, that must've been one mighty pissed off elephant...

A wild elephant in India who trampled a woman to death came to her funeral to trample on the woman's corpse again.
Maya Murmu was attacked and killed by the elephant whilst she was collecting water in the district of Mayurbhanj.

The woman was rushed to hospital but her injuries were too severe and she was placed on a funeral pyre the same evening, Telegraph UK reported.

On Saturday (local time) the wild elephant turned up at the woman's funeral, where it took the 70-year-old's body off the pyre before stomping on it again and throwing the corpse away.

This has really put me in a bad mood.

Dipshit drives his car after 28 drinks, hits woman and fucks off, leaving her with injuries that require the amputation of her leg.

I'm not one for rage or grief porn, but this really is shitty.
Marsden had attended a "bottomless brunch" event in Guildford, where he drank 11 cocktails before driving to more pubs in Aldershot, where he drank 15 shots and two pints
And no-one he was with thought to suggest he might want to take a taxi.

I wonder if this elephant would be interested in a couple of short term contracts?

Never mind cat videos, this is clearly what the Internet was created for, & from the sound of it is surprisingly easy to do, if you can get your hands on some old school hardware

This one is brilliant

It's even better - got the job, but I had to chase them up for a start time/location.

Then I got there and they forgot to tell me the client mandates Contractors need to supply their own kit (Unusual but not unknown).

Ended up going home at Lunch as they had no spares  :wtf:

So HR pops down, apparently a guy working for us has the wrong job title showing in his signature, this is according to his line manager...

So we check the form that was used to create the account, the stated job title in his sig is that which was specific on the form. So who filled out the form? Take a fucking guess... FML.

I am going to have to go to this place

https://www.thecoast.net.nz/trending-no ... yHCBvSV8YY
A viral restaurant chain encouraging staff to serve up bad attitudes is coming to Auckland.

Karen's Diner - which claims to be an interactive dining experience with good food and terrible service - reportedly plans to open in the City of Sails in August.

"Expect rude service, singing waiters and regular guest appearances from the manager - the most Karen Karen ever - just don't dare ask to see her."

The planned restaurant location is currently a secret.

"At Karen's you will be greeted and waited upon by rude waiters who in return are expecting you to give it full Karen," the restaurant said on its website.

"A place where you can complain until the cows come home because we literally don't care."

Karen's Australian website said under 16-year-olds must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

"Rude language is used across our venues. We are not Disneyland," the company added.

The first Karen's Diner opened in Sydney last year.
