a.) Twitter's database has not been compromised to my knowledge, so his account hasn't been "hacked". If somebody did gain access it was because his phone or laptop was left unattended, or somebody guessed his password.average joe wrote: Fri Jun 10, 2022 9:37 amSo if someone hacks your account (surprisingly enough this happens reasonably often to even dull average people on the street, never mind someone with celebrity status) and posts porn on your page, you should, what? just keep quiet and say nothing?
b.) If somebody did hack a Twitter account with 90k followers they would immediately change the password to lock Rassie out and then try to scam the followers or blackmail the owner. Given his partnership with Luno a Bitcoin scam would have been very easy to pull off. But he still had enough access to the account to undo the retweet and make his denials on Twitter.
So one of two things happened. Either one of his friends pulled a prank on him and did the retweet as a joke. Or he was watching some porn on twitter and accidentally hit the retweet button as he was scrolling. If it was the former he would have said so immediately as it is something a naughty former team mate or army buddy would do. The "I've been hacked" defense is the default posture of somebody that got caught online watching or saying something embarrassing. Nobody is buying it.

No Duane as well. So Wiese is most likely going to be 1st choice. Would like to see Roos and Louw getting some play time.

There's not many matches to test players and combinations before the RWC. A known quantity can still come back, Duane/Frans/More Steyn still have a strong chance, playing them against Wales isn't going to tell a coach much new. Probably not good for Ruan Pienaar or Bismarck as they haven't been in this setup and aren't selected now. Excellent news for Marcell Coetzee he's selected and this is his first time in this setup from memory, which means he has a shot of replacing someone in the squad and going to the RWC, he's much better than Wiese and Smith.bok_viking wrote: Sat Jun 11, 2022 4:03 pmNo Duane as well. It may not seem it, but there's much more chance of a veteran coming back in for the RWC than the rookies in this squad making the cut.

He actually got a cap under Rassie in the second 2019 TRC match against Argentina. He looked like he was going to Japan (especially if Kolisi wasn’t going to make it) and then got injured :-(
Glad he is back in the mix. Proper like-for-like replacement for Vermeulen.

I would have preferred Morne van de Bergh over Hendrikse. The rest is OK. Not big on Moerat and Orie. I expect more from South African locks. I would rather have Walt Steenkamp and Cobus Wiese in.
We may be in a bit of a wood from the trees situation now. Heaps of new talent that need to demonstrate the ability to make an step up again. Guys like the du Preez twins were quickly overlooked in favour of the next big thing. I sometimes think this is a problem the All Blacks selectors have faced in recent years. So much talent they can't really ever settle on a consistent 23.
Rassnaber have shown a tendency not to give out caps lightly. I expect Roos and Nortje to be the only debuts. Hopefully they continue with this conservative approach to selection. Assuming everyone is fit right now, we need to settle on a no.8, a back-up to Faf and Pollard. That's it really.
What's more exciting is selecting a SA A/Gazelles/u25 team. We have some seriously good youngsters coming through. I'd love to have a second team with regular fixtures. NZ really benefit from having the NZ Maori have regular hit outs against quality opposition.

Glad for Gelant and Deon Fourie. You don't many 6 flankers who can cover 2. He has been excellent this season and will play a massive role in the final.

Absolute unit who is quite literally growing every year. 1.93cm and 116kg . He's come a long way since Dean Mumm ragdolled him all those years ago. Nobody does that to him nowadays.Blake wrote: Sat Jun 11, 2022 4:32 pmStoked for Marcel!_Os_ wrote: Sat Jun 11, 2022 4:19 pmThere's not many matches to test players and combinations before the RWC. I wonder whether the Transformation targets do make a difference in selection. The clear first choices and future superstars (Roos Louw Nortje) will always get picked on merit. but I do wonder when you are talking about 2nd/3rd choice squad players whether the Transformation targets make a difference.FalseBayFC wrote: Sat Jun 11, 2022 5:03 pm I would have preferred Morne van de Bergh over Hendrikse. That's a very good squad. My only question mark is over Fourie, from a long-term point of view. But it's such a large squad I guess he forced his way in. Same with Goosen, why bother?
I know this comment is very "2018", but Kolisi is not bringing strong form into the squad which is filled with immense talent in the backrown. I really hope he finds his mojo again against Wales.

I have no doubt it is still a factor. And I support the implementation of transformation policies 100 percent. It may result the odd unfair exclusion/inclusion but the positives far outweigh the negatives. They're applying it with a light hand and we have such a big talent base now, it shouldn't have any effect on our performance. I am happy with Orie as 4th choice lock with RG Snyman out injured. He's a solid option but nothing special. The Hendrikse over van der Bergh selection is more a continuity issue than transformation. He's is considered a long term project player.ia801310 wrote: Sat Jun 11, 2022 10:32 pmI wonder whether the Transformation targets do make a difference in selection. Rassie likes old heads. Like Schalk Brits in RWC2019. He seems to value a strong leadership corps in his squads. Players like Fourie and Kwagga bring a great deal of defensive nous and seem to have an incredible work ethic and energy.assfly wrote: Sun Jun 12, 2022 4:57 am That's a very good squad. Goosen is a gamble. Nothing to lose and if he stays unbroken and gets some game time in, he'll be a backup in what is probably our least deep position.

Don't worry about Kolisi. Once he put on green and is captain, he turned into a different player.assfly wrote: Sun Jun 12, 2022 4:57 am That's a very good squad. I am very happy for Fourie. He cover 2 aswell and he sure is the best specialist 6 around.
Agreed and provided that the superstars and first choices are always picked on merit, and provided it has no impact on performance then I have no issue with it. The main risk is that players may go and play for other teams and strengthen then competition.FalseBayFC wrote: Sun Jun 12, 2022 7:11 amI have no doubt it is still a factor. I do think there would be push back if either (1) it did start to impact on performance or (2) if obvious superstars or first choices were being overlooked for clearly inferior players.
Ultimately in international competition performance is the number 1 priority and other things (although nice) are 2nd.

To be honest I don't really have an opinion on this as I never really followed the story and I'm not on twitter, so don't know much about their protocols. I can only go on what little I saw in the media.
1. Rassie said his account was hacked
2. SA Rugby said his account was hacked and he briefly lost access.
3. He regained access
That's about as much as I know and I guess it's about as much as you know only you choose to read something between the lines that I don't.
Meh. Moving on, nice to think we've only got a couple of weeks before we see the Boks in action.
There are more new faces in that squad than I expected, based on 2019-2021 I didn't think they'd look past the usual faces. They might still do that, but at least they are acknowledging some of the new players.

Yeah it is great to see 8 uncapped faces in the squad, hopefully a couple them get minutes off the bench at least. I would have liked to see Grobelaar there as he was the form hooker in the URC. Also I am don't like Hendrikse as I think his current temperament can be a liability. He loses his cool to easily and becomes petulant and rash in his decisions when it happens. So no matter how promising he might be, he is just not there for me at the moment. I would rather have seen the Stormers or Lions SH in there.assfly wrote: Mon Jun 13, 2022 7:58 am Meh. The Wallabies and All Blacks have selected 35 man squads. So our 43 man squad is certainly an expanded group with some newbies along for a ride to get to know the culture and for the coaches to see what they're made of.
The Currie Cup ends 2 July so it looks like the players not involved in the Tests will have a decent off season to recover.

I'm calling it early. Sacha Mngomezulu will be fast tracked to the Bok squad directly after next year's World cup. And I think he'll get plenty of game time with the Stormers in the URC next year too. He's a future Bok captain. He's got the skills and athleticism to become a Dan Carter.

But yes, he's very, very good. But let's get him a full season of URC under his belt and tak eit from there.
I didn't know that. But considering England's depth at 10, I'd be surprised if he's on their radar. Marcus Smith is only 23 and is set for a long stint in the 10 jersey.FalseBayFC wrote: Wed Jul 06, 2022 6:45 am He's also England qualified via his dad. They'll cap him early to capture him.
