I was originally looking at the footage to see why someone would do something so blatantly illegal and dangerous (the gouge) while clearly visible to the ref, the cameras and all the spectators. Yeah I guess you're right. I was maybe looking for a reason that he did what he did. Turns out he's just a dickhead which we've half known for a while now.

Kitshoff on Adre
“I think it’s a tough one on Adre [Smith],” said Kitshoff.

“The law is the law, but I don’t think there was any intentional foul play from his side.

Except for the one dogshit outing he had against Leinster, he had an amazing season. Played badly in that match and acted like a complete poes for some bizarre reason.

Willemse deserve his 8 bar
Speaking after the thrilling contest, Dobson not only praised Willemse's production on the day, but also how dedicated he is to Stormers rugby.

“It's a credit to him, because he is not fully fit,” Dobson said after the match.

“He was in quite a bit of pain at some stages.

“For him to come through and get Man of the Match in those circumstances is just brilliant. I hope he is all right for next week.

“He has got some form of compound fracture in his elbow, which is healing. Another week will help a lot.

“If anybody oozes blue and white in their veins, if anybody bleeds blue and white, it's Damian Willemse,” Dobson added.

“He wasn't missing this game for anything. Late in the week, when the doctor said he could play, he shouted ‘yes man!’ out of the window at people in traffic.

“He is a special person and a special player, so I am very chuffed. It was amazing, you could see how heavily he was strapped.”

Yeah, I think the final is going to be disappointing. Been raining buckets for the last 2 days and the forecast is for it to continue until Saturday.
Not sure how many fans are going to brave rain that heavy or how the already shit Cape Town Stadium surface is going to cope with so much rain.

A real pity the season is going to end this way.

If the $harks were playing, we could bring briefcases of money and use them to soak up the pitch before kick-off.

The pitch has been cutting up quite badly during scrum time. Its going to cause a bit of a problem if it rains on Fri/Sat.

Kitshoff on the match against the Lions in Cape Town last year.

Speaking to reporters in a virtual media briefing, Kitshoff said that scrumming at Cape Town Stadium was difficult – with the turf tearing up under the weight of the packs following a wet week in the build-up to the Test.

“The field does cut up a lot and it is difficult to use your feet or ‘plant’ them when there is some pressure coming,” Kitshoff said.

“When the turf gives way, it becomes very slippery.

“We are working on ways to prevent that happening.

“Having all eight guys with their studs in the ground helps a lot.”

AF few pages back

OomStruisbaai wrote: Tue Jun 07, 2022 9:42 am Evan Roos nearly quit rugby because of the $hark$.

Rugbymag
Speaking on SuperSport’s weekly Afrikaans rugby show, ‘Super Rugby’, the 22-year-old said he is really thankful for the playing opportunities the Stormers are giving him.
“It’s just nice to be playing again, together with a great bunch of guys,” said Roos. “I play with a sense of desperation when I carry the ball forward. Not too many people know this but, two years back before I joined the Stormers, I thought about giving up rugby to go study because things weren’t working out at the Sharks.

“But then I got this lifeline at Western Province, and I’m so grateful for it and just glad to be playing again.”

Springbok great Victor Matfield, another pundit on the show, questioned Roos about the Stormers’ positive playing style and the renewed self-confidence of individuals such as Manie Libbok and Hacjivah Dayimani – players who also fell down the pecking order at their previous unions.

“In a recent team meeting, [coach John Dobson] compared us to “absurd heroes” – players who did not receive much playing chances at other unions, who did not get much rhythm at their previous teams and are now playing well together,” said Roos.

“I think everyone’s just comfortable here [at the Stormers]. You can just be yourself. No one forces or pressures you to behave in a certain way. You’re free to express yourself. Everyone’s got a common goal and that’s to win this competition, of course. And we’re all working towards that. I think our management team’s done very well in that regard.”

Commenting on the hype around him in the media and among the South African rugby public regarding a Springbok call-up, Roos said that while he is appreciative of the support he receives from fans, he chooses not to let the noise get to him by taking things “week by week”.

Will be a shame if this is how the final turns out. So lots of scrum penalties related to players slipping in the scrum and collapsing as a result due to the water and the bad pitch. Both teams trying to create penalties where they can instead of playing rugby. It will be such a downer if this happens as both teams have been playing great rugby over last couple of months. Will most definitely affect crowd attendance if the rain still comes down on Saturday.

Ja jong. Very disappointing.

I’m a big fan of Cape Town Stadium but I actually won’t mind if they move the final to Boolands for this specific match. At least we know the playing surface is solid, even in the wet.

WPRU really need to shit or get off the pot with the Newlands/CTS situation. If they are going to stay at CTS they need to make a commitment and get the landlord / city to resurface that fucker ASAP.
